Wasn't it unique that both teams were all British?
If I remember correctly all of the Palace players and Manager were English.

Whilst that is true, it's not unique! Most FA Cup finals were played with British Isles players up to around then, foreigners were the exception rather than the rule nowadays...

Of course. More the norm that there aren't any British players in the team!

Wasn't that the year there was a replay after extra extra time. Reputed to have saved Fergusons job when United won the replay.

That was the very year, 1990. But what i'm asking is not so much Manchester United did in the final but how they got there...that should be a big enough clue...

Spot on Dave!

United didn't play a single game at Old Trafford. The closest they got was Maine Road. They almost repeated the feat in 1996 but drew a home game in the 6th round.

If Birmingham city had beaten Manchester City (and Bert Trautman) they would have preceded United by 35 years...

Next question please!

I suppose technically he stepped down as Scotland didn't progress past the group stage.
But when do they ever? Lol.
I know the league club he was sacked from as I believe he tried to sue them (unsuccessfully) for wrongful dismissal.
He maintains in his autobiography that he left before he could be sacked. Although he couldn't join his new club whilst still at the old one.

I am a United fan! Born and raised in Manchester.

O.k. to take it away from football I'm going to ask a question about films.

What was curious about the billing of 'A Towering Inferno'?

And for a bonus what does this film have in common with a 1956 film about Rocky Graziano?

A Man United fan living in Manchester? Good grief I've heard everything now!

Edit; I've just see that you live in Bournemouth so that explains it!

The problem with Manchester is that it has everything but a beach...problem solved move Bournemouth!
And now I can fly up with Flybe from EGHH, and United can play the Cherries next season.

bloody good film is Somebody Up There Likes Me.

as for Towering Inferno, there was so many mistakes I hate to think what was wrong with the billing and as for McQueen he was apparently a right **** never really getting on with other actors. he had a big feud with Yul Brynner when they were making The Magnificent Seven

I think you have hit the nail on the head there Clive. Mcqueen and Newman argued about top billing as a result the promo material was done in such a way as neither appeared higher up the billing than the other.

If thats the correct answer then you set the question Clive. I might not be around much later today.

That's what I was after, McQueen and Newman wanted top billing so the studio had to inventive by putting McQueen first but lower than Newman.
As for the bonus question both of them appeared in that film too but McQueen was uncredited. It was his first film.
Over to you Clive.
