Probably due to the end of the war. They dumped brand-new crated Spitfires off the decks of aircraft carriers en-route to the Far East, because it would cost more to store them than what they were worth.

There's a farmer who has become obsessed with the buried squadron of Spitfires somewhere in Burma. Supposedly they took the crated planes, dug a ditch and buried them to save space.

I remember that story, they couldn't find anything. They had Geo-tech guys there and they dug around a commercial airport but had to give up.
Supposedly there's the remnants of a Dehavilland Mosquito in the bondu north of Bournemouth Airport having crashed short of the old 35 runway. Being wooden there won't be much left...

I heard that too and I recall that the Burmese authorities wanted a whole heap of cash if they find & excavate them so I guess it all be done behind closed doors if they manage to find them & what an incredible discovery it would be

That was a finger in the air seeing which way the hurricane was blowing guess.

My question is why do most liazards pause when walking or running ?

I'm sure there may be one or two exceptions in the lizard world but this applies to the majority if not all of them.

I know this one, it's to breath, I think.

Full marks :) Because of the way they walk or run with the back end swinging round like a Maserati in the wet with the MSP switched off. The air is forced out of their lungs so they have to stop after a short period of running or walking to breath.

The only ones I can think of that get round this are the ones that can walk or run on two feet like the Jesus lizard or basilisk lizard to use its proper name.
