.…...Did you notice any performance improvement after fitting the sports cats?

Absolutley, very noticeable

Do you get any cabin drone?
Very minor @ around 2000rpm hady noticeable

In non sports mode at low speeds how much louder is the sound than the stock system?

marginally louder, nothing to be concerned about

Can u pm me any details on the manifold - not sure what the difference would be

Txs

I'll find out more when they have ordered the system.

Got the second box done late afternoon and evening (finished half hour ago), this one was taken during the re-work when the main parts were back in but not the support bracket (which was made from the window cut in the main pipe for the 45):

Again, stick welding which is not pretty but very strong and not so easy on the thin sides of the boxes when closing them up!

I will clean them and fit them in the morning :D

Incidentally I put the wadding back around the innards mostly to use it up, it will not serve any real purpose in there...

Good stuff.

I realise you'd have to make brackets etc, but with all the work, would it not be worth doing away with the boxes? They weigh a lot in comparison to to straight throughs

Ross,

I agree that to do away with the boxes is an option but the way I and others have done this means the entry and exit points remain unaltered and plod looking idly under the car would not see anything amiss. I now have a spare set of stock boxes that I can use in due course to jig from to allow me to develop a set of valved alternatives if indeed I feel I need them (or rather if I'm told I need them by SWMBO)!

Fair enough mate. But, I don't understand why would the police be interested? It's not louder than standard exhausts on some cars, like a 458 for example.

It's about time too so welcome to the dark side. Most sane people end up there in the end. Apart from MAF because he's nuts! ;)

Yeah, 458s aren't loud at all, a Maser with just Larini rear boxes are twice as loud.

Ferraris in general don't sound that nice. They sound a bit hollow. Masers have always had a much nicer engine note and a high pitch F1 scream and howl!!!!

Seriously!? I heard a 458 on Saturday down my local high street. It sounded very very loud. I do not think my car is as loud, then again I've never been standing on the street for a drive by of my own car! :)

But my point is that I think there are production Super Cars out there that are louder than a 4200/Spyder with rear straight-throughs. I heard a Gallardo with a Lambo OEM Sports Exhaust that was a LOT louder than my 4200.

Good work Newton, not that pretty welding but if it works...it works!
