Well...

Barth has officially cancelled the Maseratitude participation in the Goodwood weekend, and has locked the thread on Maseratitude.

This has gone down like a lead balloon with the guys who were intending to come along, and indeed who have paid monies for the trip but received nothing.

To make this absolutely clear to anyone from Maseratitude (or indeed SM) reading this - the entire trip is not a commercial enterprise on our side. Matt and I have dug deep into our own pockets to finance the tickets and hotels, plus a meal for all of us. All this has been 'sold-on' to our members at invoice cost. In reality, there are significant additional costs involved in researching and booking all the stuff; if it was a commercial proposition, it would be a total disaster. This time, effort and actual costs in visiting the places on recces has been given for free. We could have set up a commercial company to organise this, and charged a realistic rate on a commercial basis, but it's not that kind of forum. The few members who haven't yet paid for their hotel rooms would make me very happy if they paid very soon please...

A few of the French guys have contacted me directly and asked to join with SM for the weekend. Where possible, I'm very happy to help - again, this help will be given for free, and if we can accommodate them in our hotel, they will get the same rate. At cost.

I'm personally very disappointed in the Management Board at Maseratitude - I've put a great deal of money and effort into this, and I suspect much of it has been wasted, since without the French contingent I've had to reorganise and renegotiate the activities.

I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say how much we appreciate how much time and effort you guys have put into getting this sorted out. I've done similar things myself in the past and know what a pain it can be.

I'd be happy to pay a bit more to make sure you didn't pay for a drink all weekend!

Cheers.

Drew, Matt,

If there are pre-purchased tickets that remain unsold I am aware of some people at work who may be looking to go as I am sure others on the forum may have avenues for these to be sold on so no one is out of pocket any further.

Well that's a kick in the sack Drew, I shan't ask about the politics involved it is very disappointing for all. I hope it can be recovered so you are not left in the lurch. I'm sure the tickets will get snapped up.

Hope you got my email yesterday, I'm trying to sort the problem.

Cheers David - you realise I don't drink, don't you?! :D
I notice you nicely sidestepped making the same offer to Matt, who errr does. :)

No unclaimed tickets at the moment Peter - appreciate the thought though.

I did mate - appreciate the email, and that's not a worry.

The french forum paid in full for the tickets they had, so in that respect we aren't out of pocket. Trouble is, their members haven't received the tickets... Luckily, they know I handed them over, as photos were taken and posted on the forum.

Yes indeed all very sad, Drew and i personally stumped up £7k of tickets sold at cost without profit.

The event is still on, hotels are all booked we just have to organise a pub for Saturday night dinner, which we are close on.

Ok its a UK SM event only now but we all know it will be a great weekend. If a few Frenchies turn uo, even better.

And Barth, if your reading this you should be bl00dy ashamed of yourself!

That's crappy guys. Sounds like something fishy is going on, hope you both escape that unscathed. I'd be happy for the Frenchies to join our thread and I'd welcome those that want to come still.

It's quite unbelievable given how organised their Centenary trip was.

A big thanks again to Drew and Matt for getting this organised and ensuring the SM side of things is unaffected. We obviously welcome members from all over the world here, so it would be great to see some of the Maseratitude guys join up and contribute. I dread to think what's happened behind the scenes, but hope that the French guys can continue with their Maserati passion and forum.

Echo that - within a day of telling Drew and Matt I was able to come it was sorted. I know there is no profit motive and in this rather cynical world I find that extraordinary.

if nothing else the rest of us should contribute and fund your Xmas dinner night (pre-empting we are all getting totalled again) as a thank you, as we benefit massively from your diligence and generosity.

Hi guys,

As you noticed, maseratitude board became silly. But it is not the place to speak about that and finally without any interest.
To be clear, centennary trip has been organised by Prudent69 who is not anymore at maseratitude.

Thanks to Drew, Gransport69, Ludo25 and I will be presents with you at Goodwood Revival meeting. We will stay in UK between 5 and 7 days to visit your beautifull countryside.
If you have ideas to help us to discover south of England and understand english culture (which may be quite incomprehensible for frenchies :thumb1:), let me know...

I would like to thanks again Drew for their actions.

Stéphane

I'm really sorry to read what has gone on, very, very poor. And after all of the work that a number of SM forum members have put in AGAIN for the benefit of all members both here and in France, it really does suck.

I'm sure that everyone who is still going will have a great time and those organising it should be very proud

I'm sure everyone here will make our French guests most welcome :)

In particular, they seem to be keen to understand the game of cricket...

I've made a brief attempt at explaining being out when in, and coming in when out, but I'm not convinced it was fully understood ;)

Hi Stéphane, a very warm welcome. If you do manage to understand English culture we'd all be very pleased if you could kindly explain it to us.

Anyway, seems all a bit strange. Most of all it looks like, thanks to the hard work and determination of Drew and Matt, you all will have a bloody good weekend. I'll be away for work, unfortunately, but will join you in spirit, albeit from Amsterdam.
