I have seen the Commercial RR that Ambient69 has and it's very good..!! A mechanic friend of mine has worked on a few newish Volvo's and he tells me they are not actually Volvo underneath, they are a mix of a few makes dependent on model, which was a big surprise to me..??
I will have to make a decision on what to buy shortly, a few shortlisted, but still open to suggestions..!!

The V6 is excellent. Lighter and better balanced car than the V8 - Mike Cross (JLR Chief Engineer) reckons it's the one to have. The L405 is much lighter than the previous model so V6 is fine (it's much quicker than my old V8). I think they have sold lots more V8s, because if it's your only car you tend to err on the side of more power, and people assume more means better, and RR is associated with V8 (nothing wrong with that!). Here's the Pistonheads review at the launch: “The one to have, though, is the V6, preferably on the smallest, 20-inch wheels. 7.4 seconds to 62mph, 130mph, 196g/km, 442lb ft of torque and a £71,295 starting price. On real roads it might not have quite the ballistic surge of the V8s but it's plenty quick enough for an SUV. It, too, is ultra-refined and un-diesel-like, and it also both handles and rides the best. The V8s still feel a bit SUV-like, with large masses being shifted and a feeling of forces being fought, and they can thud heavily into road-breaks. The V6 steers sweetly and naturally, you're hardly aware of the minimal extra roll, and it eases beautifully over bumps while feeling much more agile than it should. Physics are defied best here.†http://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-driven/driven-new-range-rover/26576

V8 diesel is not Euro6 compliant and it seems that they will not make it so, therefore, it ceases production in the autumn.

Indeed the XC90 looks like a great car for the family but it's not cheap !

I guess it depends if they discount it like the old one. Trouble is I can't get my brain round that price point and only four cylinder despite the impressive output.

No discounts for the foreseeable future and I agree with the four cylinders but that's the way the motoring world is heading.
The gla 45 amg is the worlds most powerful 2.0l 4 cylinder engine turning out 355bhp so shows where we are going.
