Morning everyone,

Working from home today but am lacking the motivation to walk upstairs to my office... lure of the coffee machine is too strong!

Morning all. Office bound today again.

Just picked up a code reader from the post for my Merc (standard OBDII don't works on newer Mercs, or mine doesn't) as a CEL has popped up.

Anyone know what the three error codes. P0546(twice)/P2081

1. Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor High Bank 1 Sensor 1
2. Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit Intermittent Bank 1 Sensor 1
3. Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit High Bank 1 Sensor 1

mean?

cats or lambdas

I've reset the error message with the super duper Carsoft thing I bought and the CEL hasn't re-appeared. Having asked on a Merc forum, they often chuck up such messages if you have had some **** fuel in them.

Will see if it re-appears.

Thanks Andy...We has 2 VRS Octavia's many years ago and they never missed a beat and my father has just bought a 2009 Fabia which is a lovely little car for him.

Sarah has one with the DSG box and it is very competent, it doesn't set my heart on fire but it does everything we ask of it well

Yes agree that DSG is a brilliant gear box for the daily drive. Agree will not set the pulse racing but it's very complete. I really like the latest VRS estate...it's a good looking car.

Have to disagree I'm afraid, have a Passat with DSG as general hack, and I hate it, but then I have always been a manual man (Maser aside) as I like to be in total control.

Made some good progress on the GTS replacement today. All being well I could even finally get the sodding thing at the end of next week, failing that the week after. Hopefully the weather will sort its **** out before then.

I like manual as well Iain which is why I like the idea of a Vantage as a toy but as a car to use everyday for the commute the DSG is a happy bed fellow .....

Going all weak at the knees thinking about it Adam.....

I'm going weak at the wallet.

The manual Vantage makes less sense to me just because it revs up so fast and rattles through its seven gears so quickly that an automated manual, which lets you do that all-important 'hanging on to the steering wheel' thing, makes more sense. Not only that, it's still quicker than a manual. Still, I get the bit about driver engagement, but not every drive needs to be heroic.

Yes the DSG is a lazy option, however loving my manual M140i.
The 8 speed auto option is very good, but so enjoy the direct connection of the manual.
It did give a fright yesterday though.
Was coming out the average speed limit area on the M1 and floored it, as you do, but I was in 4th not 6th and it nearly gave me whip lash with a very loud growl at the same time.
All I can say is that the Germans are just crazy putting such a powerful engine in such a small car....i'm luv'in it though!!

Do agree Adam...V12S more than happy with the paddles....V8 manual......V8S either.

Morning all, off to do a wedding soon, a nice surprise for the Groom and BM, as we rock up in the GTS and 458. Stop at the pub on the way and then go to the Venue. Happy Days :D

Morning,

MiTo service day today which means a blast over to Knaresborough as our local dealer is rubbish. Have a part to pick up for the Spider as well and may call in to look at the selection of cars at Alexander's on the way home. Refurbed steering rack should arrive today too.

Busy day even though I've no work to do.

Have a good one all
