Guys
I can confirm is the same guy. He charged me £230 for a complete set of bolts. After I introduced him to this problem, he desides to not only sell them for £150 to everyone else but to do it behing my back because "we didnt sign a contract"! I thought gentlemens agreement still meant something!! YES, I am not happy. Ofcourse you can do business with whoever you want, but I think you need to know who you are dealing with.

Does sound like you've been done Bill, I too honour people's word and gentlemen's agreements but I have known for it to backfire on me as this one appears to have done to you.

OK, Pibbow, he is due to call me shortly, then I will discuss.

All I can think Bill is that the guy got you to pay for the development costs, setup, tooling etc. Once its done I suspect is very easy to bash a set out. I should imagine the polishing takes a bit of time.

Watch this space.

Yes you are right Frank.

Bill, look on the bright side, you can now get them for £170 a set and make more of a margin.

I wont be selling them on Ebay and can I suggest that other members on here dont do that either, to be fair to Bill.

Oh well, the beauty of a free market economy! Quite rightly, the forum always looks for the best deal for its members, rather than keeping prices of parts un-necessarily high. Good work Matt.

Bill, as Matt says - on the bright side it looks like you'll be able to negotiate a better trade price with him now at least!

Frank,
there is absolutely no reason why you should feel bad.

Matt
ofcourse its a good thing that others can get it for a better price than i did. I have no issue with that and good luck. its the way it was handled by this guy that is hard to stomach. As for Ebay, I have removed the listing as all I have is my own bolts and clearly I am not going to get any more!

Nigel

I dont think this is "free market economy". its more like daylight robbery. As for negotiations with this guy......I dont think so! I would not deal with him if they were free!

good luck guys I hope it works out for you

As Matt says Bill, you did the leg work and sorted out the getting them to market bit.....spent some time on it etc....just a pity you now don't get a recognition and something from it.

Keep well and hopefully another project will turn up that whets your appetite.

Ok, by the middle of next week we will be taking orders on these.

SM is making ZERO on them, I just wanted that to be totally clear.

The prices will be £150 plus £20 postage all in. If you wish to collect and are near to the guy in Swindon, that is not a problem.

Turn around times are quite long, so allow 4 weeks. We cannot flood him with orders as this is something he does outside of work and they are very labour intensive.

The bolts are standard 3200 bolts, can someone confirm if they are the same as 4200 bolts?

Pibbow is first on the list,

Put me down for a set if they can be shipped to Republic of Ireland. My brother in law is coming to visit Australia over the summer so can bring them out.

I do feel somewhat conflicted given that Bill has done all the legwork and borne the development costs. I would be willing to throw in a tenner to show my appreciation to Bill and would encourage other members who buy a set to consider doing the same.

Matty let us know when you want payment and other details.

Regards,

Neil

PS I don't need mine until December but no later than the end of December as that's when my brother in law flies out.

OK, we need to confirm the bolt lengths as these are 3200 only, but 4200 can be supplied if we can get the pattern done.

Anyone got a spare front and back one, you can post it to me?

PM please and I will send you my address.

Matt I think the AC uses the same bolts as the 4200 but I'm not certain. If no one can confirm I'll make a call to find out but lets see if anyone here has the answer.

Yep, think it must be - I just checked eurospares and it's the same part number for the AC and the 4200.

P.S. Just replied to your PM!

One very important thing pointed out to me today. Have they been tested, I very much doubt it. Fully tested ones are available at £200 a set, I'll post details up next week. Having been told this, I wouldn't put untested components on a 180mph supercar for the sake of saving £50. If they have been rigourously tested then fine.

Well, first up if they are make from the same grade/composition of S/S as the ones you know of...then safe enough!?
