Not sure Adam, best contact them direct as you have....Not heard of tracks providing cover before but I could be wrong.

Quite a few do, apparently. Buy it on the day, immediate cover. I spoke to Brunti and they want to offer exactly that but haven't yet found a provider that will give them what they want. Vey helpful... but they can't help.

A-Plan seemed very helpful and confirmed I would be covered, going on this thread I'm now not sure so will check with them again and will let you know Adam

some good points raised, did we get confirmation that passenagers ride at there own risk and the driver is not liable

Tried Adrian Flux but they can only provide track-day cover if they already provide my main motor insurance. So we went through all the blah-blah to get a quote only to find out that they won't provide track-day cover due to the value of my car. Gah!

At this rate it will be very sedate cornering at the weekend and giving other cars plenty of room.

Andy,

That would be appreciated... Questions for me are:-

Are the organisers covering liability for death or serious injury of passengers?
If not does responsibility transfer to the driver(s)
If so, & liability is with the driver, & he does not have valid insurance, could he be sued by the organiser, passenger for damages & losses?

Thanks

Dave

OK, so hope this clears up the liability bit.....Reply from John..

Hi Andy
Asda have picked up the insurance lock stock and barrel , every passenger has to sign a waver every time , in every car every time ,,so the answer to question one is yes , so the other two questions are no ,
hope that helps

I just spoke to Admiral, my car is covered under a multi-car policy with them. Explained that its a private event where we drive people round for a charitable donation, no racing, timing or pace-making involved and that I would be the only driver. I'm covered as if on the road with no additional premium. Definitely worth double-checking IMHO.
I have the same kind of policy, so go me :)

Good news, thanks Andy. So I think that all we need to cover - if we decide to - is any damage to ourselves or our cars.

If you're interested, this is what 175 quid of one-day cover gets you. And labour capped at £50 per hour, incl. VAT. Hmm...

What your Trackday Policy covers:
 External accident damage (i.e. impact) to the car only whilst engaged in the specified track day activity.
 Fire damage but only if directly following an accident (i.e. impact).
 The costs of repairing the car or, if insurers decide, pay you or the legal owner (should the car be subject to hire purchase or lease) an amount in full settlement.
 Any amount paid cannot be more than the car's market value at the time of the accident and all claims are subject to an excess/deductible as shown on the Trackday Insurance details.
 Labour costs up to £50 per hour including VAT

What your Trackday Policy does NOT cover:
 Bikes.
 Internal damage to the engine or to the gearbox or transmission.
 Mechanical, electrical or computer breakdown, however caused.
 Liability to other participants, to any third parties or to passengers or any property damage.
 Competitive driving, (in other words, whilst racing or on timed runs or trials).
 Consumable items such as tyres, oils, linings etc.
 Cosmetic damage such as paint chips or wheel scuff that are not a consequence of a direct and obvious impact.
 Extra costs involved in repairing specialised paintwork and logos unless specifically agreed.
 Shipping / Transportation / Recovery costs. (Note: insurance of recovery costs for circuits in England, Scotland or Wales is available as an optional extension. This option is made available when completing your payment for vehicle damage insurance online).
 Labour costs exceeding £50 per hour (including VAT).
 Damage to the interior of the car caused as a direct result of airbag deployment.
 Loss or damage to the car whilst being driven by any person other than those specified within the Confirmation of Cover document.

Hmmmm.... speaking to Admiral right now, and they are adamant that there will be no cover under the multi-car insurance. The key point is that it is not on the public highway. They won't cover it.

Exactly what A-Plan said.

I have been offered the above terms for £75. Which is kind of ok, but given how little it actually covers I'm not persuaded it's good value. At renewal time this year I will absolutely look for a policy which I can extend to track day use for a couple of sessions each year.

As far as Brunti goes I'll stay clear of other cars and stick within my limits. Mine will be the GTS with boat fenders hung front and back.

I told the admiral guy it was on an airfield, private event, private property and they have the recording to say so...he checked with the underwriter while I held and came back saying I'm covered as long as I am driving the car.

Maybe depends on who you talk to and the mood they are in.

I imagine you are right, but now I have them with a recording clearly telling me they won't cover. Pah :(

Guys,

I'm not persuaded that if the passengers sign waiver, that will absolve the risk of a personal injury claim in the event of an accident.
I will be along tomorrow & speak to the organisers before committing,
Will be a great meet all the same :)

Had a go in Drew's. Awesome thing!
Andy, I think from another thread the wobble was from loose wheel bolts!

No - sorted it at the track, luckily just loose wheel bolts. Very very loose... I put the wheel on myself, and used a torque wrench, so no-one else to blame for it. Lesson learned for me - will be checking them after a few laps next time, once the hubs have warmed through. Very sorry you didn't get a ride/drive mate. It's available next time! Also very sorry to hear about the damage to the other cars :(

Is that me or the car? :D

Guys, I have had the following by email:

I attended the Bruntingthorpe Asda charity day today and just wanted to email and say thank you for a great experience. The cars were fabulous, as were the crew.

It is great how you give up your time and cars for this event.

Thanks again,

Hannah Bruty
