Hi.

My car’s water temp. usually sits around 65C when driving and 90C when in traffic. Are these values normal? I get no warning light or etc.

Not normally too much of an issue, will effect consumption slightly .I would be getting it done next time something was getting done, not a special trip. Others may disagree though.

Running too cold. As Allan has said it'll make your consumption a little worse. Also the car may be cold if you're in a cool climate but not too serious.

I agree with the cat stuck thermostat I had simular problem with my 4.2 gt in the British winter the faulty thermo played havoc with the engine management with the fans kicking in and starting problems I was forever doing a battery reset to get the moter running
in the summer months I had no problems only happened in the winter my advise get it done asap.

Driving my 2007 Quattroporte, I get similar readings. The temperature will vary throughout any journey from about 70C when driving straight on the highway to maximum of 90C when stop/starting in traffic. This has been the case throughout my 12 years of ownership and main dealer-only servicing, so I'm assuming this is the normal operating temp range for a QP? Unless anyone knows otherwise?

What I would find odd would be if the thermostat showed a sudden jump, instead of a gradual change as your driving mode changes.

I stand corrected - just spoke with my dealer who says (as forum members suggest above) that the normal operating temperature for the car should be between 85C and 90C. The 65C you are experiencing and the 70C I am experiencing may indicate a 'thermostat open' problem. It is not super serious as Catman says but is likely to get progressively worse and will need to eventually get fixed.

Maybe this will help warm the cabin better, now we are in spring ( wipes hailstones from brow)

Thank you for the correction. I also asked my dealer and they say it is normal for many Italian cars. I’ll be getting a new thermostat anyway just to be sure.

I hate to say this, but dealer is fibbing. That's utter BS
