Get him to get a Litchfield GT-R, seriously mental bit of car. Mate had one and hit 212mph on the autobahn plus it was quicker than a Veyron.

I've got a mildly breathed on Litchfield GT-R and they're certainly brisk ;)

I wouldn't worry too much about the 6month servicing for higher anticipated mileages, the 6mknth service requirement was for the early cars so that Nissan could health check them and sort any snagging issues.

The later cars are near identical and have 12 month servicing.

I don't understand how you could rule out an Audi R8 or BMW M3 CSL and still be happy with a GTR. And I say that as a Fast *** fan having come from a string of daily driver Subarus before my Volvo.

The GTR just does not do it for me. It's too big, not fabulous looking and too expensive to run.

Sorry to those who like these !

I like all of those you mention but one word on the R8. I had the B7 RS4 from new and the V8 is a peach of an engine. I then sold it (long story but involved a rear shunt) and got the biturbo B5 RS4 and had it remapped. Then I drove the then new V8 and was totally underwhelmed by the power of it. The looks and handling ticked the right boxes but the V8 in a car like that is imo not quick enough a little like the V8 Vantage I test drove.

I would therefore recommend the V10 R8 which is a totally different beast but no in Zagatoes mates budget unfortunately.

Looks like he has set his heart on a Aston V8 Vantage.

He is not generally a fast driver, so the ultimate power is probably less of a concern for him. He likes the looks, the way it goes and it meets his comfort requirements. How it meets his not silly servicing I don't know, I guess you have to compromise somewhere.

Actually I think he likes the idea of driving an Aston and think that has over-ruled all other criteria

The Astons are a bit slow and common, he would be far better of getting a Gransport with bits on for that kind of money..!!

He won't go Maserati as then he would be copying me.

Must admit I do like the V8 Vantage it is much better looking than most of the latest crop of Astons

I have always liked the look of Aston's, they do look class and are built well, but they have usually dissapointed in the performance which is a shame..!!

Given the original wish list how did he ever get to a C4S or GTR being in the running?
C4S is a good car, I had a 997.1 and its an excellent daily but the looks are far from head turning and with so many 911s on the road the exclusivity he wanted is lacking. GTRs represent the king of the McDonalds car park to me so apart from the lack of prestige that the OP wanted the image generally would put me off.
Another nay for the idea of R8s being cheaper to service than a 911 too, 20'000 mile intervals and sensible service costs make the 911 a relatively economical choice.
I like the V8, bit too small for me I think but we looked at them for my partner before she picked an SLK instead. I've just bought a GranTurismo but was also considering a DB9 or another Continental which I think would have fit the bill.
