in complete agreement, modern motors are far too fast for your normal everyday driver and it's no wonder driver electronic aids are required otherwise the car would be unmanageable and possible death trap if switched off, more to cars than just speed
Spot on mate.

Porsche has this licked with cars like you Boxster Phil. Great fun, we'll build, handles like a dream, not bad on fuel and doesn't have 400plus BHP but still is great fun to own and drive........I think a good 981 Boxster or Cayman would be a great car to own and keep.......Especially the Spyder....

I think an early Cayman S is one the best modern drivers cars around, I suspect the 3.2 Boxster is similar but I have only driven a 2.7 and that was just a bit lacking

If you are thinking of selling such a gorgeous car in one of the best colours, it sounds like you are out of love with it
A GT in that colour doesn't get much better.

True, it could be quicker and it is pure speed you are after, any kind of GT car is not for you I guess.

You'll miss those lines and that sound though!

Four years ago I took a 981 Cayman for a test drive courtesy of Porsche Towcester for a few hours, strangely, for someone in my fifties it was the first Porsche I'd ever driven and I couldn't believe how light and quick it felt for its size. The build quality shone through from the moment I sat in it. I've also looked into the earlier 987 generation 2.7s and still think about buying one occasionally, but I have to keep reminding myself to step back a bit as deep down only a Maser will do at this point in my life.

Dicky's comment about the sweet spot being in the 1990-2015 range got me thinking, I'd never really looked into this period much before but I think he is spot on. I've only recently started looking into Masers of this era and if I were able to right now, I'd snap up the blue Ghibli he currently has for sale as quick as a flash, it ticks all the right boxes for me, even as an auto (as does another Ghibli for sale elsewhere, which has also been through Dicky's hands in the past).

What a nice dilema to have though OP, to have a really nice Grantursimo and teetering on the edge of keeping or selling it ;).

No expert, but front looks like a Stradale. Easiest Maserati to sell and therefore buy again.

It's not actually a Strad, it's standard Sport by the looks of it. Indeed, if it were a Strad, it would probably be fast enough and the thought of changing wouldn't be there.
If it is was a Strad, while it would indeed be very easy to sell, it would be far from easy to buy again. As an example, only one 2-seat Strad has been on the UK market this year, and that was the 600 mile only museum-piece that Hashluck has wisely bought.

Speed is good but unless you are on a track it doesn't really matter. When I drive the likes of the 458 I constantly worry about getting points or losing my license (happened a few times)! I get as much fun driving the GTS at 10/10's and not worrying too much as it gets there much slower. The ultimate for me is the GTI with 115bhp and only 830kg.... much more fun than anything I've ever owned or driven....

With this talk of 987 Boxsters we currently have two low mileage examples for sale, fully sorted and tight to drive. We deliberately sought out the 2.7 as they are bulletproof and no IMS bearing issues etc. you find with the 3.2

Not out of love with it or the colour at all, but after been invited on the Ferrari F8 event over summer and the fun country lanes then jumping back you can see where I'm coming from. Lack of noise in the F8 showed up when I jumped back into mine at the end of the day!

Fair enough & very different cars but I understand where you're coming from. But I would try to keep the GT if you can, it's a beauty and compared to the F8 and the like, it's relatively cheap to run especially as most of the depreciation has already been suffered

Still love and rate my 987 3.2S highly just a perfect package.

Still a great car Phil and your for me is in the best colour...I Think for me when the 981 came out they managed to hit the sweet spot with looks and performance with the Boxster and Cayman.

How much for those Boxsters? Wow, they were about £4k not long ago... Not even the 3.2S... I'm sure knowing John they are the best examples out there right now!
