Yeah it does fatty :)

But seriously, this illustrates the danger of relying on metrics. I have only recently got my BMI below a level where I am not considered to be clinically obese (30) and although I am certainly carrying unnecessary weight, I am only about a stone heavier than I was when playing rugby at my peak.
Funny init. I was so looking forward to the new scales- now not so much. Stats wise.
I preferred the old ones.
Like you say, I’m not sure they always tell the full story.
Keep it up Hawk13, we’ll both get there!

Ok Fellas thought i’d put up some stats.
My aim this year isn’t weight loss but rather get back to some decent level of fitness and regain all the muscle I lost. Unfortunately another op or two will get in the way from time to time but the increased fitness should help me recover quicker.

Bought a new set of scales (Withings) and figures for body fat are widely different to my previous ones which showed around 10-10.5%.I Had to check they were safe for me to stand on, maybe my pacemaker is affecting the reading?
Anyway, they set benchmarks against which future progress can be measured.

Having done nothing for 9 weeks my new “hybrid” heart is now getting into the groove and I can see progress in my cardio.

So that’s good progress and I’m still sore in my chest so onwards and upwards!

Does this look 17.4%?View attachment 81363
Good to see you getting back into it Wattie, and I’m sure you will be back in shape in no time... may not be “competition-ready” shape (so keep the budgie smugglers in the drawer?) but still better than the average Tom, Dick or Harry...

p.s. I’d be delighted to only have 17% body fat...

My scales do not give these cool graphics but they do give some additional info out which I can note down here and hopefully it will be useful

Height 181cm
Age 34
Weight 73.7kg
BMI 22.5
Body fat: 24.9%
Water: 54.4%

So BMI is decent but I would like to see that fat percentage lower by June. Although it doesn't entirely make sense to me and I think I may need new scales

Would have been interesting to have noted down the above figures back in Aug '20 before I started training properly and weight 82kg...

Either way still a work in progress but I do feel the best shape I have in my entire life. I may have weighed a little less 3 years ago when I got married but I didn't feel very healthy as I was suffering with gastritis and GERD really badly back then (stress)

First weigh-in for Feb today...with comparison to beginning of the year

Weight - 87.3kg ———> 83.7kg
Body Fat - 25.4% ———> 23.5%
Lean mass - 65.1kg (so 22.2kg of fat) ———> 64.1kg (so 19.6kg of fat)
Body Water - 51.3% ———> 52.9%
Visceral Fat - 11.5 ———> 10.5

This means I lost another kg this week, but my scales think it was largely muscle loss... :(

3kg plus is excellent!
If you do a lot of cardio.....it can burn muscle. Don’t get hung up on it.
You’re heading in the right direction. Well done JW.

Not a good week on the old diet and fitness front. Despite losing many many pounds from the bank account having coughed up for a GT, the other bottom line has barely changed at all
81562
The main reason for this is the birthday related (covid compliant) festivities, which mainly involved food:

Exercise wise I’ve been itching to get out for a run but the horrific weather has put paid to that. A single HIT class and a 30 min walk in the freezing cold has been the limit of my exercise this week. Plan for the rest of Feb is to make the most of a week off at half term and use that to reboot the healthy eating and exercise. I’ll have my new car by then so at the very least my right foot will see some exercise!

Firstly, not jealous you’re only 40.
Secondly, enjoy, looks delish!

Loss was going fantastically well! Suspiciously well! Too well!

So I checked. Brand new scales need to go back :D It's going well, but not as well as those scales would have me believe :lol2:

I've decided not to weigh myself, but only because the missus has had a tidy up and I don't know where she's put the scales now!

I have however, been aiming to cycle most days of the week (on Zwift in this weather!) and have now done 542.4 miles so far. So if I keep this up I will have beaten last years annual total by the end of June!

Certainly feel fitter, and the belly is going down, so it's all positive. And I'm enjoying it as well.
Looking forward to the weather improving so I can go outside though.

Good stuff. I've got 150 miles challenge this month. Made it last month, but getting 10 miles in 4 times a week takes some time. At least at my speed :D

I'm not going to turn into the alcohol police but it's been about 8 days since I had any at all and I feel great
I'd get about 5 hours sleep a night interrupted by 2 trips to the bathroom but for the last 5 days it's been 7-8 hours and 1 trip or none

I've lost 6lbs in weight and really feel like I've made a proper start

I was 60 yesterday , gifts were a box of mixed German lager , a bottle of champagne and a bottle of xo cognac :D

Might have a jumble sale
