i dont know where this goes? im not 100% sure all the vacuum hoses are right tho

it also wont idle, i cant hear any vacuum leaks anywhere, the hose not connected doesnt suck or blow, it hunts between 1000-1100 revs, is there anyway to re-set it?

Hi Beau , good news re the re-start well done mate , you'll need someone like matt to come along , or a 3200 owner whose done a strip down ,where does the breather originate from , if you do a search of the tech section pretty sure that breather/vacuum has been covered before , maybe on a tee piece

Have you got the original throttle body on the car, 3200's are renowned for throttle/body and throttle potentiometer problems causing intermittent running and cel lights popping up , at the present i'd lay odds its something to do with the vacuum pipe , ( have you tried sucking or blowing down the tube when its running ) .................joke please dont try that:wink:

hi, the throttle body has been re manufactured by BBA-reman and there are no warning lights coming up at all.

i have re-set the throttle by leaving ignition 2 mins, then holding accelerator 5 seconds etc (followed the guide) didn't make any difference.

that pipe nothing changes if you block/suck/blow lol

when its hunting the engine sort of runs rough when the revs drop/rise, when its idling ok, its smooth and revs fine.

Afternoon and well done.

Ok, the pipe, it goes under the throttle body plate and is a breather so attaches to nothing.

Unscrew the two screws that you can see in the picture and remove the plate ontop of the throttle body, then tuck the pipe under it and replace the cover plate.

Ok, this I think is the feed to the electric fan. There will be another plug exactly the same that it mates to. It's probably got tucked under as you have refitted it.

Not having a 3200 for over 5 years now, I am relying from memory. If another 3200 owner can confirm the rad fan feed?

As for running rough, I would give it some time to settle. Go drive it for a week. It sounds like the ECU is relearning, are you sure you got your timing 100% correct?

Check that plug is not the TDC sensor down on the crank.

the fans are working fine with out it, gets to half way on the temp and fans cuts in after a while like normal, the crank sensor is plugged in fine, so i still cant find where the plug goes anyone else? thanks for your help

only other thing i can think of to mention is the fuel in the car is at least 10 weeks old if this would cause any problems...? im going to re-fill with v-power as soon as its in reserve.

Hi Beau, just had a look at my 3200 and the connector isn't easy to identify. In the absence of anyone coming up with a better suggestion I think it may connect to the bottom of the small silver box (about 1" square just to the left of the throttle body cover plate) that the breather hose you were referring to earlier comes from. I think you may have to unbolt the silver box to make the connection as it is completely inaccessible. Hopefully I don't send you on a wild goose chase but I think I can see at least one red and yellow cable by moving the corrugated surround with the tip of my finger. Good luck and fair play to you getting your car running again. Steve

Hi Beau,
Yes the pipe is a simple breather and on mine it just sits on it's own with the end dangling down to the left of the engine. I have no idea what that connector might be, if I get chance I will have a look and see if I can see something that looks like that. See if Steve is right, it's worth a shot? I don't think the fuel age would be an issue.
Cheers

Loving the forum help here!

Beau - well done for rescuing a car that many would discard as beyond repair. Proof that these cars are like all others mechanically etc, albeit with a few pricey parts!

The silver box to the left of the TB is the Peirburg valve I think is also know as an EGR valve.

Hi beau,
Had a look in mine and. Any find a connector like yours so it's propably a later model! As for the hunting if there are no warning lights it's probably an air leak. I assume you checked the plenum plate for loose screws.... As for the throttlebody just check the butterfly is not sticking. There should be free movement and it should spring back from both fully open and fully closed to the slight open position. Make sure the ignition is off when you try this! Good luck

Hi Beau,
As Conaero suggested, the variation in idle is the ECU relearning, when I took delivery of my 3200 from the UK it was exactly the same, idle bouncing between 1000 and 1100, now that it has been on a few long runs it sits perfectly on 1000.
Good luck
Ross

hi, i have sorted out the vacuum hose and sorted out the plug (thank you very much you were correct it goes on the little pierburg valve thingie :))

its still running rough on idle but il see how it goes after a run.

it has got a slight tapping noise coming from the engine which goes when you rev it above 1800 revs, sounds like a cam tappet (engine was stripped and put back together as removed, i never heard it before so it might of been there before) i will give it an oil change during the week and see if it changes things or not.

Just run it for a month. It does sound like a tappet, are they hydraulic?????....I don't think they are. Use a piece of pipe as a stethoscope to determin which one the replace the shim.

If the ECU is still in learning mode, I would run it for a bit before touching anything else. It could be running a bit lean until the ECU figures out what it's doing? Take for a couple of hard drives, so the ECU knows what to expect from you and see if it settles down.
