Typo Chris. Supposed to say if it fires 100% its THE relay. Not what i typed. Just checking you were paying attention :lol2:

So we're all agreed? The most likely cause is a ****** POS relay buried in the **** of the dash. Super :D

New one found and ordered for Wednesday!

Cheers

Sounds like you have found the probable cause.
I could have sent you a relay as I have a few spares.
I was busy checking the Maserati scuttle this afternoon so missed you conversations. Changed the pollen filter and removed a few leaves but fairly clean but did find 3 large beetles in the corner. Also decided to clean the wiper motor contacts while the motor was out.6952969531

We are all agreed that you should and could have figured it out earlier but you wanted to keep us busy with a real world technical QOTD. Well three days :)

On the plus side you can regale Mrs C with the story of breaking and fixing her car with a £10 part but saved 36 technician man hours on the labour.

Thanks for everyone's help and abuse :)
New relay arrived today (5 pin, not 4 doh) but no matter as the socket has 5 slots.

Works perfectly every time. All back together and much happier starting on a spanky new Bosch S5. Mrs C is impressed (well it's not hard to impress her, she's been married to me for nearly 24 years so has had her expectations adjusted) :)
