Yep, he had some real issues to deal with.....mostly hiding his funds from ussr....
I’m not pro any party....
I loved the USSR as a young delusional aspirate.
I went there 1985 as part of my Eurorailing grand tour, not included in Eurorail ticket but cheap to go, got visa well beforehand, loved it, Moscow was ace, had it's darker side, Soviet Taverns, but a shed load of atmos, streets unbelievably clean.
My partner is a Soviet, she didn't like the SU and neither did her parents but her gran misses it, she's 89 and I've seen the cine films of their holidays etc. Everyone looks so happy. You got ur salary, but rent utilities transport etc all free. Salary was for food clothes, hols, car if u wanted one. A lot of control yes, no freedom. But you were looked after from the cradle to the grave. Not all bad, not all good. Would have suited me instead of this constant fight to survive we all have now unless heavily monied, for me there's a lot of positives. Having said that, too much State control breeds contempt and fuels revolt.
I know it's not possible, but it's something to strive for, some sort of half and half. Think it's called Democratic Socialism....
