Extreme point but if for example you were in hospital with pneumonia, you contracted COVID, tested positive, then died from pneumonia, in this country it would be highly likely you would be counted but in other countries you may not.

Of course you may have been talking about the Highway Code in which case, yes, don’t get run over by a bus.
Yes, my point was more related to road safety and avoiding the risk of bus-related mishaps.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with Phil’s comment, a very fair comment indeed and quite acceptable and justified, not sure why you have any concerns with it.

Hopefully someone took something of a message that "It's bad, but it might not be as bad as you think"

Is that a bad thing? Sorry

Had a call from my son earlier this evening and his partner who is a nurse has tested positive with her home testing kit and has a cough. She’s had a full test and waiting for the results.

Got a feeling were all done, and I'm not a pessimist either, we'll all going to be in this same situation or worse in 18 months time!

So here in France on these news the R is 1.2 what is it in the UK ?
I remember not so long ago that we can't let it go over 1.
Certainly starting to here of more and more people that are testing positive that's for sure.

Someone above made a comment about masks being next to useless. The "stupid people" in this country believe you can spend 25p on a cheap mask and you are good to go until the strings break. Most people are going around with a "one time use" mask and think they are protecting the world. WRONG.
Poor education by the Government, ****, they told us all to not buy masks for the first three months of the pandemic because they hadn't got enough for the NHS staff. You really have to put a lot of blame at the door of the Government in this mis-advice. No wonder a lot of the general public don't want to use them. I am not trying to make a political point here but it was plainly very poor advice.
For full disclosure I was wearing a cloth mask with filter and changing the filter every week (it came with 10 spares) but now I wear an N95 mask as the transmission rate is through the roof in my area.

So 1820 dead in last 24 hours and numbers of people being vaccinated in most vunerable groups now falling behind target rapidly, there really isn't much room for optimism. My wifes mum aged 91 hasn't been contacted yet!

Possible Norway experience “rethink”?

It’s doubtful, if you read the BMJ report Norway have not paused their program but are asking for extra checks for more frail elderly patients.

NOMA (Norwegian Medicines Agency) said “
Norwegian authorities have prioritised the immunisation of residents in nursing homes, most of whom are very elderly with underlying medical conditions and some of whom are terminally ill. NOMA confirm the number of incidents so far is not alarming, and in line with expectations. All reported deaths will be thoroughly evaluated by NOMA to determine if these incidents are related to the vaccine. The Norwegian government will also consider adjusting their vaccination instructions to take the patients’ health into more consideration.

Our immediate thoughts are with the bereaved families.”

Seems the Uk won’t reveal its findings...... just yet.

“Asked if any deaths had occurred in UK patients after vaccination, the UK’s Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said that details of all suspected reactions reported in association with approved covid-19 vaccines would be published along with its assessment of the data on a regular basis in the future”

Surely extra checks should have been done during testing......thats what testing is for.

Here is some very alarming news unfortunately...............Israel have said that people who get the Pfiser vaccine and only get one dose are only protected 33%. Not the 89% that British government are relying on. They can't comment on the Astra Zenica vaccine. Pfiser always said three weeks between vaccine doses and seems we have just screwed over an awful lot of people.
Well that puts a massive effing spanner in the works if true.
