CC Box: Dropping into Neutral and out whilst moving?

Ivan Capelli is on the video answering all the questions about the cambiocorsa gearbox
Appropriate with his Italian English "cam-bio-corsa!"
I think he was a Trofeo racing driver as well as a little stint at Ferrari F1

Just a thought, but what about using ice/low grip mode when parallel parking to reduce throttle response?

I tried the Ice mode the first winter and found no noticable alteration to anything, it was still cr@p in the snow.....

I think ice mode is also discussed in the video and what the changes are.
I'll have a go tonight at uploading it somewhere.

...well for starters....when in ICE mode and you press the accelerator.....nothing happens! You need show tyres full stop.

Thanks Mike...it almost sounds like the holy grail! Looking forward to watching it. Thank you.

Not really, it only explains what's in the handbook, but is certainly useful for a new owner, just over 10 minutes long.
Just rewatched it myself. Best bit is Ivan Capelli doing donuts with the ASR switched off "don't do this on the public road"!!!
Anyway it's uploading now, I'll post where you can download it. Its a file half a gig, mpg format playable in windows etc.

Might be s software glitch newton . on both my 4200 and the Gransport ice reduced the ability to rev over 2500 , making pulling away a lot more gentle even if you tried to floor it , felt like it was controling the clutch engagement aswell

While on this topic - something my local indie told me was that the later 4200 gearboxes don't shift down into first when perhaps they should. Basically when slowing to a near stop they really should drop you into first to pull away again however unless you actually stop or go very very slowly for a bit, it always leaves you in second and then rides the clutch to get you up to speed again when you pull away. Lots of clutch wear there of course. So the answer is to drop it into first yourself, or actually stop so it drops to first itself. Not easy to do that downshift smoothly I've found, but the logic makes sense to me. Of course going into neutral when you're slowing to a stop would probably also help - depending on what gear it picks if you go from slowing straight into pulling-away without actually stopping.

Cheers,
Ben.

Back on this topic...

When travelling at say 40MPH and I think i'm going to be coming to a stop, I pop it into Neutral. But sometimes I don't end up stopping so I hit the "Up" select and let the gearbox choose the best gear fro me. I presume that isn't causing much wear.

Also wqhen crawling, I select first, get up to about 5-10MPH then drop into neutral and let it roll before having to stop again.

Not sure if either are good ideas...I await for our resident specialist to tell me.

Never used neutral yet unless actually stopped in traffic say. Mine changes down to 1st when at stop, or I change to 1st if I need to, so I am ready to go. When at red line the gearbox should change up immediately, if not you have a problem. Dropping in to neutral should not be a problem with any gearbox. Gearbox changes in SPORT are fast and delightfull, but this also depends on throttle pressure.

I do exactly the same. Better take a look at that video. Mike, many thanks for uploading it.

The gearbox will change up automatically if the engine reaches a value, quote per owners manual "approaching the "overrunning rate" and the accelerator pedal is pressed"
HOWEVER "This condition does not occur with the system in the "SPORT" mode" Take note!!!

It is actually worth sitting down and reading the owners manual, it is all there.

Hi Mike,
I have tried mine in all modes now apart from ICE. In SPORT at full throttle if revs reach the red line the gearbox will change up on it's own, I have tried it a number of times and it works. Maybe on the earlier CC Box, before the changes to the software, it did not change up at around 7.5krpm, but mine definitely does, so far. I note the comment in the manual, same as mine, but I was surprised that the box changed up one day when I got excited and forgot to change up (easily done). I will take it out for a test run to see if I am correct, but I am 99% positive, I think!!
Cheers

Interesting.
Must say mine just bounces off the rev limiter...when in Sport mode, but changes up when not, per the manual.

This is a link posted on a previous thread (not my find) to a cambiocorsa promo video. It talks about being in neutral and sport mode use. Being new to paddle shift I found it an interesting watch, particularly driving in auto and still using the paddles to downshift for overtaking.
