Engine swap

No clue, i have no idea what a good price would be for a used maserati engine. I guess noone really does. 4k seems quite cheap though. And these are asking price, so who knows if you throw in a cheeky offer. Bonus is you can just rent a van and pick it up. Inspect in person before buying etc. And no taxes/import duties when you bring it home ;)

Likewise, i have no idea whatsoever what the price should be. As a rule, however i have noticed, because there are plentiful of Maseratis in the US, the parts prices are much cheaper that those of EU/UK.
I have posted a link to the video about the engine, however it says the link is not working anymore...
There are some photos of the donor vehicle, the engine has not been damaged as it sits far behind....

You’re probably liable for VAT or whatever they call it there, possibly some duties and of course transport cost. But should still be cheaper. Bit difficult to return it if it’s a dud though. looking forward to your updates, looks like we’re spoiled for interesting projects at the moment

You're liable for VAT, small tax and obviously customs clearance + shipping costs. Now, all those do not scare me, as am in the shipping business myself and importing from either US or Germany perhaps would cost similar. I would rather go for Germany as my driver goes there every other week, however 10K Euro is a bit too much for me... i also do not think they would reduce it down to 5K :)

Hi All, found an engine, the seller will give the ECU too + loom. The engine was tested and the video was sent to me. All ok, however once they removed it, i found some damage/dent (i circled it), please see the attached photo. Is it serious and should be replaced?

There is a dent in them from factory, I can take a picture tomorrow of the ones I have left from my project.

Yes there is a dent. There's an outfit that is doing replacement manifolds where all the tube are the same length which idenitfied this dent!
Eb

edit I see Tallman has posted what I was referring to!

So, is nothing to worry about? I sure remember seeing quite a few engines like that and thinking to myself, how comes they got damaged in the same place... :)

To my eye the dent in the tube in your picture doesn’t look like the “designed” dent on the std manifold.

Have you replaced yours? Did it alter the sound? I just wonder if this is nice to have, or must be replaced?

The picture Tallman shared is from AS Motorsport long primary development, which isn’t yet complete. It will almost certainly be an improvement when it’s available.

I love we are talking about a factory dent... like squished tubes it's wrong and just lazy, and yes I know there are plenty of manufacturers do it and have done for many years.

Hi All, left cover/crankcase needs to be replaced, is it a big job? I know they trade about £1700 on eurospares for complete units, i guess i would need to replace the whole unit...

I would want to remove the cam cover and have a good look inside especially to see if any debris in there.
I still don't thing the exhaust manifold is right either.
Bon Chance.
