Lol does it pop and bang like Marks on lift off too! I agree the soundtrack is Detroit all the way. Like a proper Bullit theme tune!

Which is great if you are running an American barge. IMO, as good as Marks car sounds, NASCAR isn't what Italian cars should do. There again, beauty is in the ear of the beholder!

Agree, both are great, yours definitely sounds more like a highly strung Italian car. Showed my Mrs both footage and she says both are too shouty for the looks of the car and I guess she does have a point!

Maybe I've not described it that well Benny - I don't have anything to compare it to really as I haven't heard anything comparable on the road...but it is a sumptuous sound (again not sure if this is a good description), but the sound now when accelerating is to behold, but of course you already know that. :approve:

If you like it Simon, that's all that matters. You don't need to justify your preference because whatever sound it makes it is still a Maserati, and that makes it one of the best sounding cars on the planet. Enjoy!

Hi David

No I didn't partly because the cost was prohibitively expensive.

However, I am thinking that if an X pipe DOES make a difference then I'd spend £300 or £400 quid (as opposed to thousands which seems a bit silly to me).

Can anyone fill me in (without the meat jokes.... ;-) )

Bobby

Bobby,
I heard a Mille Miglia (Australian company) exhaust on a 4.2L GT recently, and i have to say the sound was INCREDIBLE! In fact i thought it was a 4.7L GTS until the owner corrected me. They really keep the beautiful Maserati tone and are much cheaper than Larini etc. at about AUD$2,000.

Just a thought, why is an X pipe so expensive ? Surely it's just a stainless tube cut a few times and re-welded in a jig, polished and a few fittings added ?

Depends on expensive. I paid (I recall) about £200 for mine. I'd be surprised if there was less than 3 hours labour for someone at least reasonably skilled in there.

For example, I know not meant for a Maserati, but they say they can fabricate one if they knew dimensions etc.

£200 is a deal, but sub £50 is what it would actually retail at if it didn't have the "Maserati" tag associated with it I bet. I can understand why back boxes etc. are the price they are, but an X pipe is pretty simple surely ?

So that leads onto the next question. Has anyone got the dimensions for an X-Pipe for a 2008 GT 4.2 please ?

I would be intrigued to see the actual price for a replacement Maser part, as it's quite a bit bigger. But that does look cheap, indeed

Simon - I'm digging up an old thread, but do you just have the H- pipe with standard rear boxes?

Is she referring to the drivers or the cars?
