Well, did the deal. Ordered an EQA. Its the "second" car of the household, so will give it a go. I remain sceptical but with the price to run it its a bit of a no brainer.

I will let you know how we get on..
A colleague has an EQ something-or-other and loves it. He's German and lives in Germany.

LOLz, yes good to see they pick up major faults under warranty within 3 years.

I guess this is why HV battery systems generally have 8yr warranties.

In 5 years when all these first gen tycans, Tesla's, Audi's etc are out of warranty it will be interesting to see what happens. Probably a government back scheme where the HV battery is covered by your insurance provider to help support the used EV market.
The warranty on the battery is usually separate. On my BMW i3 there is an 8 year warranty on the battery.

The US federal government requires automakers to warranty EV and hybrid EV batteries for 8 years or until 100,000 miles in all states.

I guess the rest of the world got the benefit of that

Standard Taycan has low depreciation. A car that was circa £85k new is now about £60k at three years old (obviously depending on mileage, spec, etc). Few new cars beat that in terms of depreciation. So as a company car, financially it’s a great option.
It’s the Turbo S that’s bad, as it’s so expensive in the first place.
If it was a hatchback I’d have a basic Taycan in place of my E-Tron. But as it stands, I can’t put my dog in the boot of a Taycan!

We are with Octopus for our energy, and are swopping onto their Octopus Intelligent tariff. It's now 7.5p for six hours overnight, their daytime rate is no different to their standard tariff, plus they pay 15p for solar export (from yesterday). So you have the best of everything!
Your new EQA should qualify too.
If you aren't with Octopus please consider my referral for £50 credit.

Snap and great tariff. Just changed over recently and added the iPace last night for its first 7.5p charge. Makes a huge difference from the 30p ish rate before on the old supplier. Even on the lower mileage we do it makes a big difference. I play football once a week and it costs £7.50 to play and another £7.50 to get there in an E55K or the like. In the iPace it is about 70p @ 7.5p per Kwh.

So a full tank of juice giving about 220 miles is less than £7. For a 400bhp twin motor 4WD sub-5 second 0-60 car that is comfortable, well equipped and decent to drive also look at I think it has been a good move for us.

Wouldn't have wanted to have bought a new one at new prices though!

These look fabulous in the metallic dark green they do. But it’s just too big as the local runabout. Hence my recent order for a new Q4 E-Tron.

Here’s a thing. Off in our Zoe to see the architect with a Merc flat battery and no charger. Booster failed to work. He also has a Tesla. Neither T nor Z has an alternator but small service batteries. Not sure I want to try jump starting off an EV as all **** could break loose. Taking a charger….

Kind of off topic, but does anyone know if these EV manufactures could design their power trains to trade the ability to accelerate stupidly quickly with extending the range. I really don’t get why for example the Taycan Turbo S needs to be able to accelerate fast enough for a speed freak like me to beg it to stop, whilst struggling to do 300 miles on a charge?

I *think* it's mostly to do with how electric motors produce their torque (max at zero RPM) so if you have a motor that can produce enough power to do (say) 120 mph it's pretty much an un-avoidable side effect that it *can* also accelerate stupidly quickly. As we used to say, in the biking world, the throttle works both ways and if you hammer the right hand pedal from standstill all the time, you're not going to see the quoted range.

I expect an engineer to come along and explain why I'm wrong now :)

Possibly a warning on this one. Funny though :D
