Ah! Now THIS sounds like what I am after. The convenience and practicality of an Auto with the (optional) noise of the MCShift, but with out the clutch wear.

So a GTS 4.7 Auto with Sports Pack, sounds like what I am after....

ah, but not as fun to drive as the manual shift!

MC with an x-pipe, every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Sounds better than a Strad, based on a brief experiment with a Strad at the Silvertone Classic last year.

Have a think as to whether you want the noise all the time in Sport. I intentionally did not order the Sport Pack on mine as I wanted to retain the ability to drive in Sport Manual on A Roads/motorways without the drone.

Good advice.

Thanks Bob.

Not sure why you would want to drive sport manual on the motorway or A roads as you won't be changing gear often. If I am on the motorway I just turn off sport and it is nice and quiet.

I guess that's why the likes of BMW give you lots of ways of configuring what you want whereas Maserati gives you one button that does lots of stuff, some of which you might not want at the time.

I got one installed on my GTS Auto. This gives you 3 modes actually.

1. LOUD - with the kit switched on
2. Off - kit switched off
3. Default Sports mode - with kit switched off but Sports mode on.

Personally, I would prefer a smoother gear change, and the idea of being able to leave it in Auto without worrying about clutch replacement... I wanted to get the MC shift for the noise, but did not want the disadvantages associated with MC, so th FD kit gives the best of both world...

I have the mc shift and what I love is above about 5000 revs the manual gear change is sublime, and being able to change down when you fancy around town to hear the throttle blip turns heads and gets BIG smiles, I have never owned a car that is so liked by the average punter, don't be put off by clutch issues, factor it into car ownership this is after all a supercar(an affordable one at that) and you really need to drive both to understand and experience what we are talking about. For me it's nice to get out of a full auto and into something more engaging but for others the auto suits their needs perfectly, each to their own but either way these are incredible cars :jpheart:

Well, THAT is a matter of opinion ;-)

I didn't care at all for the nodding dog syndrome that I found on the MC Shift, but maybe I needed to give it more time.

Thus far the the GTS with the MC Shift software is just perfect for me. Absolutely fantastic in fact. :)

But is the sound exactly the same?

As for the nodding dog syndrome you just need to accelerate harder and faster before changing gear. You just need to adapt your driving style to it.

Agree, you soon learn to slightly adapt and smooth out the gear changes

I have a 4.7 GTS auto which is pretty perfect. I tried MC and auto and really preferred the auto box as in the real world I couldn't realistically exploit the MC box for any length of time. The majority of time I've "nipped out for a loaf" or took the long way home but the auto for me was the winner. I would be interested in the FD kit for increased noise under 3k revs though, sometimes a little more noise would be a bonus whilst toddling around town. Are you in the uk and did you need a pro instal?

Just find a GT with the Sports Pack fitted. It is absolutely fantastic!

(I can't thank Bigbob enough for pointing out the incremental enhancements that the Sports Pack brings to a GT - EXACTLY what I needed. And the NOISE!!)

Excuse the question but what is a 'Sport Pack' and how can I tell if my Sport I'm collecting tomorrow has it?

You should ask the dealer you are buying from to supply you with the spec sheet for your car. This will tell you the optional extras that your car came with.

Mine for instance has the sports handling pack. Don't know if that is different from the "sports pack". But supposedly it means it has the stradale suspension setup, 10mm lower ride height, grooved and drilled brake discs.

If I look at my suspension they are red and have the words MC on them. Is that different from the normal Granturismo?
