+1 on that.A friend of mine had the chance to drive a 599 over a weekend. He said it is amazing, specially the engine. He said that above 6000 rpm it is just amanzingly powerful. It does demand a lot of respect, according to him, otherwise the car will bite you hard!
Oh, and it also gobbles up fuel like nothing else.
No idea of the costs but a V12 will surely cost more than a V8 to run.
If you can afford the car and the running costs, to for it! Let us see some photos when you get it
And don't what other people on the road think about you, the car is for your enjoyment, not theirs!

I think, for what it's worth, that the resentment some may see is more towards the rear engined V8s rather than the front engined V12s which have been seen as more of a 'Gentlemans Ferrari' and as such command a bit more respect whereas Maseratis are loved. Could be all to do with the mercenary approach to the market old man Enzo had and his singleminded approach to win at all cost whereas Maserati are still here even after periods of really dodgy cars and loved all the more for it.
Cost wise the annual service could be 2.5k but the engines and gearboxes are bomb proof plus the running gear is designed to be thrashed to within an inch of its life so built to last...............save for the clutches which cost 3k and will only last 20k miles if driven really hard but upto 50k miles if used as a GT car.
Fuel consumption isn't really an issue if you take a Maserati GTS at say 19mpg average for 6000 miles it will cost approx £1700.00 whereas a 599 at 14mpg will cost £2300.00 so £600 a year more. I'd pay that just to hear it start up. Plus on a run you would get 18 - 19 mpg at continental autoroute speeds.
So to sum up...................Scratch that itch and think.........No depreciation, possibly appreciation.........600 quid a year more for fuel..............1000 a year more for service.............buy one with little clutch wear and drive it like you own it not stole it and smiles a million. In my opinion, of course
Where do you guys think Lamborghini sits on that scale? Same as Ferrari, or more or less favourable?
