Lamborghini that's just pure car pornography. We all want to ride in one but look over our shoulder so we don't get seen but the noise they make will get you cought out.

If i could afford a 599 i'd definitely take one over my GS, i think they're an amazing car, the costs to buy and run one put it in a completely different league to the GS though

Good Lambo question... I'd guess it rates lower on the "likely to provoke envy / hand gestures etc" scale. But I could be wrong.

Barbuckle - thanks for reawakening my 599 itch! :bigcry3:

A friend of mine had the chance to drive a 599 over a weekend. He said it is amazing, specially the engine. He said that above 6000 rpm it is just amanzingly powerful. It does demand a lot of respect, according to him, otherwise the car will bite you hard!

Oh, and it also gobbles up fuel like nothing else.
No idea of the costs but a V12 will surely cost more than a V8 to run.

If you can afford the car and the running costs, to for it! Let us see some photos when you get it :)

And don't worry what other people on the road think about you, the car is for your enjoyment, not theirs!

+1 on that.

I doubt anyone on here is anti-Fezza, just mindful of the response they might trigger in those of a more jealous / resentful / ignorant disposition.

I think, for what it's worth, that the resentment some may see is more towards the rear engined V8s rather than the front engined V12s which have been seen as more of a 'Gentlemans Ferrari' and as such command a bit more respect whereas Maseratis are loved. Could be all to do with the mercenary approach to the market old man Enzo had and his singleminded approach to win at all cost whereas Maserati are still here even after periods of really dodgy cars and loved all the more for it.

Cost wise the annual service could be 2.5k but the engines and gearboxes are bomb proof plus the running gear is designed to be thrashed to within an inch of its life so built to last...............save for the clutches which cost 3k and will only last 20k miles if driven really hard but upto 50k miles if used as a GT car.

Fuel consumption isn't really an issue if you take a Maserati GTS at say 19mpg average for 6000 miles it will cost approx £1700.00 whereas a 599 at 14mpg will cost £2300.00 so £600 a year more. I'd pay that just to hear it start up. Plus on a run you would get 18 - 19 mpg at continental autoroute speeds.

So to sum up...................Scratch that itch and think.........No depreciation, possibly appreciation.........600 quid a year more for fuel..............1000 a year more for service.............buy one with little clutch wear and drive it like you own it not stole it and smiles a million. In my opinion, of course

I wasn't talking about anyone here, just about random road users who may be jealous. One shouldn't really mind such people, just leave them to their business and enjoy the amazing car you have :)

My friend went through 800 euros of fuel in that one weekend!
Without leaving the Lisbon area. But no one would do that kind of driving over the whole ownership. The car was part of the fleet from a driving club which has exotic cars for the members to drive.

Get on with yer.......I liked the one at the 'Garage' in London at 75k but I think but there is a good choice out there for under the ton at the moment but just talked to Meridien on this issue and they say the 599 is now the most undervalued modern Ferrari and prices will go only one way...........Last year in January a 575 Superamerica was 120 ish now they are 250 ish.

142 2007 s registered and 100 2008s and 60 2009s so in all 300 to choose from......if anyone is going to jump then jump now before the water gets too deep..........

shame to say - but worth getting into the 599 for the investment alone.
Always wanted a 550 and nearly chucked in all my cars for one 2 years back. IF i had I could have sold it now to buy a GT and another 3200 :)

Struggling to see how I could get myself into one of these at the moment. Well, partly - I'm struggling to see how I could get my family into one AND fit one into my financial circumstances.

Cost of money's still pretty low, though, yes..?

Haha! Barry, I refer you to my previous comment.

(You reckon a couple of lanky teenagers would fit in the boot of a 599?)

Where do you guys think Lamborghini sits on that scale? Same as Ferrari, or more or less favourable?

I used Lambos as my daily cars for about 4 years straight, both around London (where I then lived) and Dorset (where I worked) and for the commute. Had only one negative comment in all that time, and that was when I went down a narrow street I didn't know, to find a massive speed bump at the end that I couldn't get over. So had to make everyone back up so I could reverse back. Bit of a nightmare! Apart from that, everyone (that took the time to comment) was positive.

And as long as your Ferrari isn't red, the same applies. My 456 and 355's were always blue, and I never had a problem.

The 599 is amazing and sure to increase in value. General servicing is okay(ish) but things like ceramic brakes cost a fortune. If you were to use one daily like a GS and put, say, 10k miles on it, I'd expect the servicing costs of the Fez to be at least triple those of the GS. Make no mistake, the 599 is a proper supercar for the wealthy. The GS, on the other hand, is car that, thankfully, the rest of us can afford.
