Gransport to 599?

This thread could cost me dearly. Looked at a 599 today that luckily had just sold. Car was amazing and in my perfect colour scheme (ie same as my GTS). Dealer explained that running cost was circa 20-25% higher than GTS but bullet proof if treated with respect. Certainly within reach now as a straight swap for both of my GTS's, but prices are predictably just turning so it's probably now or never.

Only big obstacle is although I have a practical family runabout (CLS), the Maserati GTS allows us to go out as a family and enjoy my toy at the same time. 599 would be quite a selfish decision as rarely would get used with anyone other than me in it, which is why the M GTS works so well. 612 maybe...but looks are more "challenging" to me.

c4sman - you and I either need group therapy or we'd only end up talking each other into one. Or two. For me there are two show-stoppers - the cost and the lack of seats. Were it either one of those I could wrestle my way round it and use most excellent man-maths / man-justification / self-delusion / blunt, wilful, ignorant stupidity to work round the hurdle. But a further financial encumbrance which couldn't even be used for the much-mooted N family blast to Italy might cause more marital upset than if I brought the clap home. Well, maybe not *quite* that bad. But close.

So you were helping me right up to the point of attaching the advert for the car I looked at today at Autofficina (now sold)!

Beautiful colours. Good taste. Could perhaps only be bettered with a tobacco-coloured interior... Although I'd probably need to see that in the flesh. Actually, probably best if I didn't.

Please stop all this 599 talk immediately! I'd never paid much attention to them before, but they are really growing on me now! I really don't like the 612 styling; the only downside to me of a 599 is the number of seats. In a few years when my kids are pretty much grown up this will no longer be an obstacle.

I was looking at one before I got my MC Shift. The more and more I look at it the more the shape grows on me. But servicing is a lot more which made me worry a bit. Whereas my Shift only needs a service once every 2 years. Unfortunately people like the Masser more. Though that wouldn't make a difference to me! You choose what you like.

Though today I went to view a house the estate agent commented he loved my car twice and when I said I might sell to fund the house he told me not to!

I really wish I hadn't seen this thread! If I don't get consent to start developing/building I can see that this could be a Plan B for some cash ;)

I think the 599 is a beautiful car and its a Ferrari, so enough said. True car lovers will respect it and the owner.

But, and you should never start a sentence with "but", but it kinda reminds you how practical and such good value the QP GTS or Granturismo mc shift are.........IMO.

You could have a pretty good one of each to one 599!!!!!!!!!!!!
That would be a cracking driveway.....

Cheers Wattie

Gorgeous Ferrari the 599 Fiorano.

IMO, the Cavallino is a bit hit and miss on the styling. However have always loved the 599.

Entertaining thread. :)

There's one for sale with a Tubi exhaust so I went to YouTube to find out what kind of noise that makes. I wish I hadn't.

I must be on my own but never really like the styling of the 599 but it is truly a great car.....Well I say that...never like the styling until I saw this in the flesh...But then at 380k a pop these days a bit more expensive than the standard car.

Best way to save up for the new Granturismo or top dog Alfieri. Buy a good 599 now and sell it when the new GT or Alfieri is available...................just trying to be helpful.

Never tried bringing the clap home.......suspect you might be right.

Not sure I could trade a 599 for an Alfieri.

(Hopefully I haven't just imposed an SM-fatwa on myself).

I can see your point...It would be hard going from a V12 to a V6 or V8 depending on what they put in her.

Same thinking as Adam and Andy on this one.

If I had the means, I'd stick with the 599 over a V6 Alfieri.

On that note, has there been any confirmation that the Alfieri will be V6 spec only?

599 and FF prices are now overlapping. Not by much, but around the £140-150k mark you could pick either. Surely with FFs still depreciating the 599s will do the same for a year or two yet?

Possibly but quite a few 599s are still below £100k and I think at this level you are safe from further depreciation, still some settling at 140k to come perhaps.

Now you're talking Adam...FF......Just my favourite current Ferrari and the family can come out with me as well......A black one went past me on the motorway on Wednesday. Just so much presence.
