Thanks guys. It wasn't so much the covering as the shape and a slightly overstuffed backrest (in my opinion), but obviously it's about horses for courses. Looking forward to a ride in Dan's Stradale when it comes time to change :D

Would be great if a mag would/could do a feature on Maserati, 'Trident Tested' and compare how the make has moved on from the bi-turbo days in the 70-80's

Next edition of Auto Italia......is doing a Lancia type test.......Fulvia Fannalone Vs Lancia final edition........why not ask if they have a similar Maserati test in mind?

Its not Maserati, it some Ferrari/Maserati dealers. At the California launch event at my local FM dealer, I was talking to a guy who had a similar experience to Dan. This guy ordered a new 430 with factory pick up. Car ended up being late, he called the dealer and got a different story every few weeks. Next thing he gets a snotty phone call from the dealer asking when is he going to get around to paying for his new car as its been in the compound at the back of the dealership for the last two weeks. Not only did they mess him about, be rude to him but they also screwed up the factory delivery option and the car got sent straight to the dealer.

On several other occasions while at that dealer saw several heated exchanges between F owners and the service managers, I'll never forget one Saturday when a guy in a 360 Spider who after discovering that they still hadn't set his clutch up right stormed out in a cloud of F...ing this and that.

Hi Simon, but they undertake this work under the umbrella of being part of Maserati UK.....franchised garaged with all the responsibilities and add ons and benefits this entails.

So we can only assume that HQ never gets any feedback or customer service surveys to get a handle on how dealers sell their cars, treat their customers and deal with complaints?

Its usually not the mistakes or ****-ups that occur, as they happen in all areas of life, but how then the problems are dealt with.........some areas of some of the organisation needs to be brought to account on some occasions.

Its funny, I got an invite to the GT stradale presentation a few months back when it was doing the rounds. I emailed the dealer saying I'd go. On the day the weather was terrible (heavy rain) and some other things cropped up so I didn't go. About a month or so later got a letter from Maserati GB saying they were sorry I couldn't make it and do I want them to take me off their mailing list. Its tone was very" toys out of the pram" in nature. Sadly they have NEVER contacted me to ask how I liked my car, how the dealer was, how the service was etc etc.....only emails with "Trident logo'd SNEAKERS (hate that word) and other merchandise.

By comparison to my experience with the dealer that I bought both my GTs through, I've found Meridian in Lyndhurst to be far better....

... but still not perfect, a pot of touch up paint only took three visits and 2 months to arrive at Meridian (ultimately sorted by the dealer principle), where as the damaged trim that I spotted on the day I collected my new GT, that I was told would be ordered and replaced under warranty, was in fact never ordered by the original dealer and so was ultimately ordered and fitted by Meridian.

Funny thing is that just one person can make or break a dealers reputation. Nigel, the dealer principle at Meridian, knows me by name, remembers little details from chats we've had in the past, invites me to pop in for coffee when ever I'm passing.... and I've never spent a penny with him, yet. (That's not a euphemism by the way :p )

Where as at the other dealer, only the salesman knew my name, every time I went there I had to explain who I was, phone calls were rarely returned - if ever, parts were not ordered, warped discs were skimmed rather than replaced, and in a period of less than 6 months I'd spent in excess of £160k with them!

.....................poor management..................poor training.......................lack of professionalism................lack of pride in their jobs.......ultimately the blame needs to be laid at the door of whose heading up that particular franchise...........................a pity.

I also wonder if some of the people who work at these high end garages suffer from the same syndrome as those shop assistants in designer clothes shops, bartenders in WAG bars etc.

If they do its a pity.....or 2ndly...is it by design..................or meant to be that way?

I think most of the Ferrari/Maserati salesmen I've met would struggle to sell Ford or Vauxhall cars with their attitudes.

May be it is a little bit of "if you have to ask, you can't afford it" type attitude. But then I've never experienced that with Yacht sales people that take deposits worth more than a brand new Ferrari.

May be the majority of Ferrari/Maser customers are arrogant and unpleasant to deal with (with exception to our good selves, of course!) and it rubs off on the sales people?

I am not sure....but anyone here who is a boss/employer....must realise that the tone/attitude/ways of working/presentation are down to the head honcho........he sets the levels, expectations and ways of doing things on the ground.

If the first point of contact is a bored, fingernail filing, fails to look you in the eye receptionist.......then its down hill from there.

Coming across the one interested, motivated, responsible employee in an organisation is never enough...........becuase all he does is spend his/her time covering for everyone else!

It is very frustrating, annoying and belittling at times.......and its patently NOT good enough for Maserati to fail in these areas in a number of their franchises!

Maserati dealers for all their failings could be worse.... they could be Porsche dealers :strangle:
