If the socket does not have a USB symbol on it. Looks like a 3 pronged fork with circles on the end.

Then it won't have USB connectivity to the stereo.

So my USB is this

Now with the official maserati Y cable on the left the car doesn't even recognise the ipod. However with the after market cable on the right which came with the car, it recognises the iPod but fails from then on.

I'm going to buy one of those Viseeo tune 2 air devices. They get good feedback on maserati life as well

You plugged in both cables? May be obvious, but as nothing else with the audio on these cars is I thought I'd ask!

On the upside I love the red stitching on your seats. Also, the Alcantara / leather is very good. Personally I prefer it to all leather.

Yeah both cables plugged in. its a strange one that's for sure.

Will try the bluetooth dongle route and see what that brings

If you press the RH button on the stereo with the iPod as source, it gives you option of sorting by album, artist, playlist or song, or to eject the device.

RH as in right hand or does the button say RH? (I'm away from the car right now)

If you press the RH button on the stereo with the iPod as source, it gives you option of sorting by album, artist, playlist or song, or to eject the device.

As others have mentioned, I have noticed that turning the ignition off and on can effect the ipod connectivity. Sometimes - and it seems random - the ipod isn't recognised, but an on / off for the ignition and there it is back... Had it last week when I stopped for petrol. I was listening to the ipod as I pulled into the garage. When I got back in after refuelling, no ipod was available via the SRC button. Moved the car over to the airline and checked the tyre pressures and, when I got back in and started her up, the ipod was back!

Not sure if this will help anyone, I have 08 GT without iPod connectivity. Initially I was disappointed with the sound quality despite adjusting settings, the Bose upgrade in our Porsche was so much better. Eventually my unit died and I had a new 2014 unit fitted by Graypaul. The sound quality is far superior, whether some connections on my original were not as they should be we don't know. At first the new unit wouldn't connect properlpey with iPod but this was diagnosed as faulty glove box port, now replaced and it does now function perfectly (tempting fate here). However I had to purchase the genuine Maserati lead specific to my new unit, apparently there are differences. To get the Maserati lead to work with full functionality you have to have the aux switched off. To use non Maserati lead like the bmw I have you have to have aux on, but you don't get full functionality.

Thanks SJX. Just tried it. The only difference the AUX off made was that I couldn't hear the iPod at all, let alone control it. But it is an old 4th or 5th gen one so maybe a newer one may have different results.
