The AA guy said Beemers take 40 minutes. Doesn't make sense to me why bits would stay awake for that long. It's not inconceivable that I'd left the car unlocked. Hmm...

My Volvo takes an age too. It's annoying as it causes a glitch with the bluetooth music streaming over Spotify. If I stop for under about 30 mins, when I restart the car, the track lists are frozen. The car needs to go fully to sleep before it will un-freeze. Annoying and seemingly pointless.

My Discovery switches off the music after 10 mins to save the battery but when you then switch it back on it takes a while to find the USB stick. It even tells you it will switch off in a minute which is useless as there is nothing to press to stop it.

On another note, I was told never to leave Land Rover's unlocked for a long time as they take much longer to go to sleep.

Used to be a problem with P38s, they'd wake all the time is parked near a mast/output etc and drain battery........

My Jag battery went stone dead at City airport once, P. First and only time. The AA said it can happen when strong signals cause interference. Could be the car had spent all week being woken up and doing whatever cars do when they wake up. Scratch its ar5e, have a coffee, yawn. Whatever it was, it clearly exhausted the poor thing.

Odd stuff, 'lectronics.

Oh God yes Frank - I suffered with that one on two P38s. I also discovered they wouldn't restart easily when parked in a particular Sainsbury car park. Absolutely fine everywhere else, but it could take 30 minutes to coax life into them after the shopping trip. I thought I was dreaming it, until a fellow RR owner caught me doing it, and told me he had the same issue.

I remember that happened to us in the AC when visiting Theakstons brewery, just would not start at all, got it to Autoshield and no issues to report, started first time..!! Apparently the interference with radio waves was the suspect..??

Boo hoo. My yellow terror is stuck in my neighbour's driveway, dead as a dodo. Flat battery (having read the threads - thanks AdamN). Went looking for a thread about how to get into the boot with no battery and hey, must have a key entry. Trouble is, there isn't one on the GT hahaha. Hopefully the RAC man (presumption) will know what to do. I have a C-Tek but didn't connect it as I had driven the car home from Goodwood and I use it at least twice a week. Guess I need to connect it all the time. Just another reason to buy a house with a large double garage. Trouble is, they are few and far between.
Just wondering if there is any point in getting a bigger battery if I need a new one. If so, suggestions?

I think there is a boot release under the front of the rear seat, or maybe yours does not have rear seats..?? Is your car still under warranty Merrian, if so I would be taking it back to the dealer for a new battery, it should not be going down that fast..!!

Checking on the net, there should be a boot release pull cord behind the drivers seat and under the rear seat..??

Thanks Robert, I will look for a manual release. Even though there are no rear seats, the structure is still there so may find something. The car is still under warranty so I will be contacting Dick Lovett.

It's almost like Italian roulette... will the car start today, or not??? Quick blat down the A3 for 30 mins and the battery is fine. Car is now plugged in to the C-Tek and that's where it will stay when not in use. Now to find a double garage with a house attached......

As I've mentioned before, I'm happy to garage it free of charge for you in Scotland. I even offer a free airport collection service. :)

I saw your flying banana in the car park at Goodwood, Merriam. And very yellow it was looking too! Glad you got it perked up again. What a palaver. Mine has been fine ever since (touch wood) so I wonder if some radio mast or similar near to where I was parked in Southsea caused the problem. It's a mystery for sure.

The RAC man jump started it. The neighbours thought it was terrific fun to watch (and laugh). As to why, as you say Adam, it's a mystery.
And thank you Outrun, I certainly appreciate the offer.
More house hunting tomorrow. And the next day. And the next.
Cheers.
