What's the options for someone who doesn't want crawl into a car, something more executive but sporty? Only QP's, GranTurismo's, old Ferrari 400's on, Aston Rapides? Not boxy tho like Bentley's they are well fugly.
I think the new Continental GT is a lovely looking car now they've rounded it off a bit.58833

Not at all. Just seems to be an accurate reflection. Doesn’t seem like a level playing field where intellect is king that’s for sure
Trouble is sales jobs depend on hitting sales targets. All too often ethics go out the window in the pursuit of such, typically the more u sell the more u earn- the more the business makes too.
Morale standards and ethical salesmen suffer.

I was a currency broker in the city for thirty years. Whilst there are quite a few very successful individuals both in broking and trading, there are many others who only earned a modest living. The 'city' like anything life can bring big rewards, BUT most who are enjoying these rewards from my experience are hard aggressive bds that would do whatever it takes to get ahead, and treating people like absolute s** is par for the course.
Those who are the biggest bullies and scumbags come first, those who are nice come last.
Probably why I am out of work... Apologies if this comes across like a rant.

A mate of mine who was the nicest bloke ever got a job a a currency trader (this is about 25 years ago) within a month he stopped hanging around with us, so we saw him once a month, in that time he had turned into a complete ****.

4 years later he got 'made redundant' with the rest of his team. By which time he was driving a Ferrari (not bad for 24) had 4 houses and a criminal investigation for insider trading (found not guilty eventually).
4 years after that he did time for a car ringing scam. He only did 18 months as the judge said he was a small part player, when everyone who knew him, knew he was the mastermind.

Having met his wife, and is now sitting on a huge pile of cash and now has nothing to prove he's gone back to being a nice bloke.
I suppose when you don't have to worry about money or keeping up appearances you can go back to being yourself.

I started my working life (well, the full-time part of it) in a City investment bank when I was 18. A year was enough. Packed it in and went to uni instead, which was far better in every possible way. I wasn't enough of a **** to have made big rewards so can only imagine that had I stayed it would have been shite. Even if I had made piles of cash, I would still have been bored and surrounded by bigger *****.

I can't believe that with that kind of past, you can ever return to 'being a nice bloke'. Sounds like a facade and fundamental lack of integrity. But I clearly don't know the individual in question.

Always makes me ponder where I went wrong in my life choices when I see someone like him with such a car collection. We were always told to work hard at school. I still don’t understand how these traders make so much money. There must be a huge component of luck. Often the dim fast talking ones from public schools. The smart ones go on to be actuaries or the like
I'm more than happy not being Smeee! You should be too. I think your doing OK

Someone in the North (cos I've seen it in Wakey and Bolton) is hiring out what appears at first glance to be a white Benters, badge on boot lid etc, right boxy shape but I spotted it. We were behind in the Maser and my sausage-dog-kidnapper daughter said oooh a Bentley I said no it isn't, google it on DVLA MOT, that's a Chrysler 300C with a Benters badge stuck on.

And it is/was. Tiswas.

She was well impressed.

Wonder if the guy is pimping it out as a Bentley wedding car? Yes, it's The Phoenix from Phoenix Nights. In real life St Gregory's, Farnworth, Bolton.

Or perhaps it was a case that he would do whatever was necessary to get whatever he wanted?
Once he had it, he could return to type.

I suppose the best analogy in comparison of that is a couple of my mates Grandad. As a teenager he was so sensible and cautious, he got the nickname Gramps which stuck with him all his life.
When we went to Portugal years ago for the 'Gramps' golf tournament (24 of us went) and one of Gramps school mates went with us. 22, 20 something **** heads, and two 80 year olds.

Anyway, one night in a bar I was chatting with Gramps school mate and asked what was he like during the war (they were both there on D-Day).

He said you have never seen a change in someone as he had with Gramps in uniform. He went from a quiet, cautious, sensible young man to an absolute fearless 'animal' who would do whatever it took.
Gramps came back with numerous medals for gallantry, whereas his mate came back with campaign medals. He said he wanted to do his bit and come back in one piece.
Gramps wanted to get whatever they were doing done. And he would be the man to lead from the front. Totally the opposite of him out of uniform.

When the war finished, Gramps went back to being the quiet, sensible, cautious one.

That golf trip was the first any of his grandsons had ever heard a single story about his war exploits. Never knew about his medals, never even knew he was at D-Day, nothing.
Some of the greatest stories I've ever heard were on that golf trip, by two old boys who "were there" shame he never wrote a book.
He never said anything about them, as in his words "didn't think anyone would be interested in them".

A remarkable fella. The likes of which it's unlikely we'll ever see again.
