Thanks Roge for paying a visit yesterday.

I am a bit worried about the EPB on this car and I am wondering if I am doing anything wrong? I start the car and the silly thing takes quite a prod with the accelerator peddle to disengage. Often worry that it will take off suddenly once it does given my foot is on the accelerator. Have had one or two scary moments. Should I be doing something different?

BTW dealer sorted out the incomplete data and bluetooth problem but the EPB seems to be worse since its come back!

Thanks

Mine does the same, but usually after it's sat idle for a few days and always worse after I've washed it and THEN it's sat idle. I always figured it was just the pads stuck to the discs but now I await any further thoughts with interest.

Ok thanks. Been playing around with it a bit and it works better if you press the brake peddle reasonably firmly before you shift the auto box from P into R or 1st. When I press it lightly and then 'go into first or reverse it doesnt disengage the EPB and then requires press of the accelerator to mover forward.

Personally I would disengage the EPB manually before putting the car in D. Would do that in any car FWIW as its smoother and more predictable.

Bob - yes I agree but the thing is supposed to disengage automatically. The auto feature works fine as long as you press the brake peddle with reasonable pressure before moving into D or reverse. I think im fine with it now. Must read the manual tbh. Thank you.

I always start the car with foot on the break pedal as it says in the manual and I think that disengages it. My drive is fairly steep and one time I parked it nose down and it had a complete paddy fit and would not disengage and said return car to dealer etc so I treated like a PC: turned it off and on again and it was fine. Only park nose up now though!

Im such a total moron! Feel like shooting myself! Got the car fully detailed and coated in Cquartz - the guy did an immaculate job and machine polished the whole thing and the car was looking unbelievable.........and then I kerbed both front alloys within two hours of picking the car up!! Totally gutted.

Anyone know of a good repairer in and around the Watford area or even a few miles from here? I need to get it sorted, its winding me up totally. I always do this within a few months of getting a new car and then Im fine for years! Why????

Thanks guys. Yep am still gutted and even though the damage isnt severe, its so visible on black alloys - they seem to have this white undercoat/material behind the gloss black exterior.

Anyway spoke to my Maserati dealer and its £80 per wheel for a smart repair and £160 per wheel for a full strip back and redo job which makes the alloys like new.

Pleasure. It never feels right using auto EPB release on any car to my mind. Personally I always leave the epb off if I park up when the car is wet or I will not use it for a while. Remember also on the GranTurismo that the EPB does not use the rear brake pads, rather a specific EPB shoe which presses on the disc; ie it won't hold you when stopped in D like it will on some other makes of cars.

£160 is rude. They'll only outsource it to a local repair shop which is charging them half that. I'd get it done yourself. They only pain in the @rse of having to remove the wheels and have the car on stands for a week while yourwheels get fixed.

Typical MD price.........bend over sir!........when getting mine serviced at Autoshield, and left off first thing, the wheel ready again at 4pm.......same day
