It's on BBC2 Saturday at 9:00pm.....A Life In 10 Pictures.........I love a classic Mini, one of the cars I have never owned but should have. I was in the Beetle camp!
I have lost count as to how many Minis i have had and a few Beetles too never owned an Imp though.

Thanks, I’ll watch it on iplayer. I had a Beetle too. Brilliant bits of engineering. When you work on one you realise how badly thought out some other cars are.

I can count the number of cars I've owned on less than two hands! Only ever sold one on!

Wow - I tried to count back and, on average over the last 30 years, I change a car twice a year. I have a bit more stability now (and although just about to buy another) haven't had a change since February 2020.

And I'm even worse with motorbikes. Last one bought in February and I have had years where I have bought and sold double figures!

Never made a loss obviously

Wow! I don't know how you do that! It takes me about six months to get comfortable in a new car, although the latest switch was a bit more familiar than most. Not to mention the one-month transition period when all the craap that was in the old car lies about in the hallway waiting to be vaguely sorted through before being shoved back into the new car.

Looks like a nice example...........I had 4. My first car was a 67 with towel rail bumpers given to me by a friend of my fathers (wish I kept it)! and the last was a bit of a rolling resto, a totally original 56 which again I wish I had kept. And the only one I have a photo of...

My brother had a Beetle and the 'engineering' is clever; using the spare tyre air to power the windscreen washers (though not much help if you get a flat) and running the heater straight off the manifold which meant there was no happy medium.
He's now got a 1974 Karmann Beetle convertible which has had a nuts and bolts restoration meaning he's not actually had it for 4.5 years! There was a vicious rumour he's finally got it back but I've yet to see evidence.

Never been a beetle fan but most friends had mini when younger, however one had a modified Imp and it was superb. The engine was 998cc and lots of trick parts and it revved its little heart out and made a fantastic sound. He eventually put the engine in a kit car, I think Ginetta, which then had the looks to match the go. Remember him racing a Renault engined Europa and truly whooping its ****

For the time was a very advanced engine Coventry Climax sounds like an Adult magazine but all aluminum and very light weight ohc.
Rover nearly got it right with the K series too both having much tuning potential.
