Hi Guys, sorry about the delay i forget to look at the forum regularly.Basically it is my 08 Granturismo that i am talking about. It went to Graypaul birmingham for a warranty job on the auto wipers not working.First visit diagnosed a faulty stalk
which took 2 weeks to come, didn`t work.Took the car back they diagnosed a wiper ECU,not in stock.Took the car back and had it fitted, didn`t work.Third time lucky new motor fitted and that worked, this amounted to my car being at graypauls
for 5 weeks.
As i am a gluton for punishment i took the car in some time later with a cam variator noise which the warranty would not honour until it developed so i decided to proceed with the work anyway.Maserati were great and payed for all of the parts
including machining the end caps and i payed for the labour £1900 agreed with graypaul. Then the fun and games started again. The car came back to me with a strange noise from the front of the engine which Graypaul tried to say was unrelated. At this point i pointed out to them that i was actually an ex motor technician and i new what i was on about.Sure enough the new crank seal fitted on the engine front cover had twisted causing the noise.I then questioned whether they had done an oil and filter change as a matter of coarse with an engine job, they had not,so that was done. Two weeks later i notice the car has lost 1.5 litres of coolant.Took the car back again, they had damaged the top hose when removing it causing a small split, that was replaced. Then believe it or not a week later still losing coolant the bottom hose was the bloody same!!!!!That was replaced.
You are now wishing that you had not asked but i am not finished yet.Another 3 weeks on driving the car in France i start to get a strong smell of burning oil.Got the car home and checked the car out myself on my pals garage ramps and found
engine oil p-----ing out of the righthand rocker cover onto the manifold.Took the car back told them what i had found and left it with them.Turns out they had not located the rubber lugs of the gasket up with the recess on the top of the head resulting in an oil leak that was a potential fire hazard. The car is now fine.
I was never even offered a scrap of compensation.I did joke that it had cost me £150 in fuel taking the car backwards and forward but to no avail.
Maserati themselves did not really want to get involved as i can fully understand,it was not their fault.
P.S to top it all they refurbed an alloy while on one visit, rubbish didn`t even re lacquer the wheel just a dull paint finish.
Like i said stay away.
