The 'Top Gear' Black GTS has been reduced... again! Now £25k... had it not lived it's life as a press car, I think it'd check it out.

are press cars such a bad thing? In my idle search for a new car a 650S has been presented at a very reasonable price, for that reason. All I can imagine is that they are well spanked, with the bathtub fail items already having been replaced, and many wear items too.

The way I see it is, if you get in cheap, you will have to expect to get out low too, but hopefully have fun in between.

Surely as a press car Maserati at the time would have ensured it was looked after as far as maintainable as it needed to be spot on for the press. Always looks good in black....sort of suits its nature. Now this one is 25k it makes more sense as when it was 29k the others at 26k had less miles.

The differences between the S and GTS are:

• Mapping of the V8 4.7 litre engine to increase the power to 434 hp
• Gearbox management software, with new features designed to increase driving enjoyment and quicker changes
• Front and rear suspension featured single-rate dampers, stiffer springs and lower ride height
• Sport exhaust controlled by pneumatic valves for a deep, throaty and
captivating sound

As a result of these changes the 0-60mph time fell to 5.1s and the top speed
increased to 177mph.

In addition, the exterior has a more aggressive look:
• New black grille with concave vertical fins featuring the Trident logo with red accents
• New headlights, in metallic titanium finish
• M-design seats with perforated Alcantara® and leather upholstery
• Standard trim in Titantex, a titanium coloured composite material

The press car would have been well maintained but would have been very well used by the Stig, Clarkson et al ....

I would be more worried about the owners after Maserati than Maserati themselves. To be honest it was a press car neatly 10 years ago so anything that needed doing because of the stig and co surely would be sorted by now.

Not sure about the red either but the GTS is such good value for money - how much were they new ?

Around the £100k mark, depending on spec, discounts, etc. Personally I think this red one is overpriced, given the age, colour, mileage, state of the market and the other similar cars available for less. But in general, I'd very much agree that the QP GTS model is a good value buy now, with 4.2 versions in the mid/late teens, and 4.7 versions in the mid twenties.

I'm getting the Blue QPV GTS inspected next week (Monday, all being well) - and subject to that, will probably move forward on the master plan of Maserati ownership...!

Hope it all goes well. I think you are doing the right thing. It’s a lovely looking QP.

You probably all know this already, but the film “Untouchable” has a starring role from the QP V GTS. It’s what inspired my obsession with the car when I first watched it in 2010. I just watched it again having finally “bought the dream” and can safely say it’s one of my favourite films, not just because of the car, but because of how it makes you laugh and cry in equal measure. Watch it!

It's a great movie. Been discussed several times on here. I was lucky to catch it (completely unexpected) on a plane. Loved every minute of it.

That’s so funny you mention that because my work colleague told me about it months ago, I said I’d watch but haven’t got round to doing so yet. I think it’s called ‘Intouchables’, the Untouchables is that gangster flick with Costner and Connery... what a film that is too.

You're both right :) . The original title was Intouchables. US Translation: Untouchable

Go figure
