Brunty On Your Marks 8th Aug 2015 (Who's coming)

At the end of the day it is each to their own, I prefer sideways because that's what I've been brought up with through my mates but I can understand it is not for everyone. Brunty is nothing in crowdedness compared to some of the track events I've done in the past and those have had involved many drift sessions.

I don't recall the organisers ever specifying no drifting, but I think it would be potentially very dangerous especially on the corner after the straight where there can be a few cars braking heavily and heading for the same corner at once. On a couple of occasions I've found it challenging enough getting round without a lairy power slide happening in front! (I'd love it as a passenger, though!)
There is also a rally course where punters pay for laps that has plenty of broadside action and donuts. Maybe a drift experience could be included in future events? Andy?

I have a mate who has an r600 caterham? Should I ask him to come? Would he be welcome in our group?

Hoyin, I have no issue with the Caterham as its another car that punters like...........Very different from the rest of the cars on the gate. Drew, what's your thoughts.

So long as the gate is predominantly Maserati, then why not? As you say, it will very probably sell. At the end of the day, it's about raising money.

We need at least 25 cars there, and at the moment we only have 11/12 Maseratis...

That's a good point - well worn tyres are a much better bet on the track than brand new tyres with full tread, assuming it's not tipping down.

The measure of success is surely that the punters have a great time, we make a load of money for the charity, and we have a blast doing it, no?

I've seen everyone who's had a go be good at that.

Indeed. My experience is that just about every passenger has never seen a Maserati close up, let alone been in one. They're usually very excited by the experience and think the cars are plenty fast enough. Few, if any, of us have driving skills that would be especially noticeable on the track compared to those with a little less experience.

From new maybe but there comes a point when the tread and lack of it matters. Last year at Thruxton we were doing a set of tyres in an hour and needed to make frequent pit changes to change a full set.

I think that new tyres will be good, half worn will be better than new but down and under the legal limit will be very unpredictable and squirm alot.

The more worn your tyres are the worse they will perform, they do not magically turn themselves into slicks
