Not that I was actually in the market, but I did look at the specs and was not hugely impressed. It's not even properly waterproof. If I had that kind of cash for a smart watch I'd have the B55 from Breitling.

*But* I'm not speaking from experience! :)

I don't do diving so as long as it is waterproof if I am caught in a down poor or worse case fall in by the sea or canal, then that is as much as I need, it is rather cool though.

It's a bit touch and go, in honesty. Only IP65 if I recall.

I think Darren has the right of it though. In 3 years ish it'll be totally obsolete. I doubt it'll even be able to talk to a current gen phone. Even Tag seem to think this is likely as they offer to 'upgrade' the internals to a mechanical Carrera movement after some time (Can't recall how many years)

And I am a Tag fan BTW!

Yeah, I'm sure you are right, but you could say that about anything and wait for a new version to come out, if in two years they bring out a new model, then could always upgrade to the limited edition Carrera and buy the next model of the Connect :)

They're thinking they can make the watch as disposable as the mobile phone but high end manufacturers trying to get in on the action is crazy

I don't buy watches to tell the time so I wouldn't spend a fortune on something disposable no matter who's name was on the case

You could :) I think it's a little bit different, as Darren suggests. Software does not go well in a consumer durable.

Unless you're effectively prepared to be paying £4k for a mechanical Carrera (which, if I read it right is what you'll end up with), and 2 years using a connected Tag (which *is* cool, don't get me wrong) I can't see it working.

But hey, each to their own, and I'll still be jealous ;)

Kind of agree. It's a bit like putting software or technology into things like infotainment systems. We can all see how well that's working out....

I looked into the TAG Connected,
The specs are abysmal to be honest, the new Samsung Gear S3 is far, far superior at a quarter of the price.
Just wish they would launch the LTE version in the UK, so it can be a true watch phone instead of being tethered.
The £100 android watch phones from China are amazing, and new ones are coming out weekly!

Sometimes I wish I had more wrists :)

I know what you mean.
I like wearing a nice watch, but when I do, I miss my smartwatch. That is why I was so disappointed with the TAG Connected.

Problem is that until or if Apple release the API for the code to interact us Apple users will always be onto a loser and has only the Apple watch to choose from and a square watch just doesn't do it for me.

Had a iPhone 3G for many years, then swapped over to android the last 3 years.
I can do so much more with the android phone.
An example today, just received a MHL adapter to HDMI.
I can now connect my phone to any TV or monitor with an HDMI input, so when I go skiing in a few weeks time I can connect my phone to the apartment/chalet TV and play any of the videos stored on the memory card, pre-downloaded Amazon Prime movies, use Kodi, etc.
Trying doing that with an iPhone!

Exactly Mike, Apple have an excellent marketing department , the queues on TV when a new iPhone comes out prove that

It might let you access hdmi but unless the phone is jailbroken won't it still only play iTunes content

It's been a long time since I had an iPhone so not sure

Seems unlikely. I watch Amazon prime on my iPad all the time I'm away

But Mike, Apple have had an HDMI interface from their iPhones for some time: -

http://www.apple.com/uk/shop/product/MD826ZM/A/lightning-digital-av-adapter?fnode=97

Referring more to having an expandable memory card facility, playing content from that card, no matter what the format, kodi etc.
Apple products are certainly easier, my kids have iPads and iPhone that I have to manage.
Certainly I feel that the hardware is overpriced compared to hardware running android.
Saying that we still have an iPad 2 that is used daily by our youngest, that has been dropped on the floor countless times, been thrown up on, and still comes back for more and is nearly 6 years old!

Ok thanks

I just remember iTunes being a PITA when copying CD'S, remember that :D

Erm. Not really. But then I recall circumventing the Sony rootkit in about 25 seconds flat. I accept that many users may have had problems ;)
