Heater matrix failed

I'm confident taking the dash apart and changing the core. Putting it back together worries me; end result of a wonky dash lol.

Is it covered in the workshop manual? I looked through last night but didn't find it amongst the 700 odd pages but I wasnt looking very hard.

It will be in the 3200 Workshop Manual I expect or follow the how to. The dash top will come off first and that easy and can be had off in 15 mins. Then you need to remove the clocks probably (battery off of course) then maybe the column which is in my Cruise Control thread.

I expect you need to take the centre consul out (not if its a GranSport...engages smug face)

Most connectors will be multi plugs, get yourself some coloured rolls of electrical tape and a permanent marker, and you wont go wrong.

Just watch the fuse box in the passenger footwell when you let the water go from the heater matrix. Its all common sense. stuff.

Thanks for the links Matt. The top and instruments look easy... I can handle the steering column and I pretty much removed the centre console when I fitted the bluetooth loudlink... I might be able to manage it if I can find the time to do it

I have diverted the heater and blown the coolant out the core I think it has finally dried out back there

Let me know how you get on Mav. I discovered mine had failed around the same time as you. Done the heater divert for the moment and think I will tackle the core during early autumn.

Will do Iam hoping to start it next weekend , Voicey has sent me a how to guide . Pm me your email address and I will forward it on .

Does anyone know if you have to remove the consol between the seats ?

Why don't the pair of you get together and tackle them together, that way you always have one to reference?

So started the heater matrix replacement tonight as the weather was kind , did about two hours before the light went . (4.30 to 6.30) I will right up a how to with pics and all when finished . So Iam at the point where seats, armrest consol, heater control panel,LCD screen , reverse unit ,dash top ,A pillar coverings ,glovebox front and airbag unit has all been removed . End of Tomorrow I hopefully will be at the point ready to remove the heater matrix for Wednesday if all goes to plan . Iam trying to get to a point to refit every thing back by the weekend iam also going to clean everything including the carpets and seats so the inside will be immaculate .

Yep keep going mate gray progress!

Make sure you take pics and do a full 'how to' if you would, pointing out all those hidden fixings.

GranSport will be easier as you don't have to remove the centre consul I would imagine, just the bit of carpet trim.

That's a lot of progress in 2 hours Mav good job. Going to tackle mine probably after Auto Italia sometime in May/June. Any tips on the more awkward parts is appreciated

Between now and then I'm going to change cam covers and repair my front grille. Along with everything else there is planned (work and social life) it's going to be a mad few months ahead hence why I did the divert.

Mav, it's one thing pulling a car apart but another thing to put back together with everything working. Good luck mate, shout if you need a hand.

That would be rather legendary of you Mav. The .pdf guide you forwarded to me does leave one guessing quite a bit I imagine!

Thought the same thing put associated screws in a zip lock bag and stick them to the back of the item that has come off. Also as Matt suggested buy multi color electrical tape and colour code connectors so you know where they connect back to. It's one of those jobs which you have to be super organised

Totally ! I took picks of anything that had more than one connector on to be safe
