A very worthy successor, congratulations. Morebeans, of this parish, recently went the same route and is very pleased about it. Although, he has commented that the exhaust noise of the prancing horse is a sorry reflection of his old GTS.

Let us know what you think of the 458.

Thank you :D

I agree already - the 458 exhaust note is not a patch on our GTS MC shifts but over all it seems to be a more usable car which is strange and I have been told a small switch can keep the valves open which should satisfy us so lets see next month how I get on :)

To be fair Adams 458 with Capristo is nearly as loud as his MCS with Larini's and does sound sublime.

Would have bought your GT in a heart beat if it was in six months time...need to sell my GS this year and move on up.

Well done to sale and even though I'm sure you'll miss the GTS, what a replacement - congratulations!!!

Beautiful trade to a lovely car.
I have been looking for over 7 months and was really tempted by your car as you know - it was a great example , well looked after and would have been an amazing buy for anyone.

I am close to taking the plunge on a 2012 Black on Black with MC Sportline Carbon Pack (MC Shift) - I have realised that I couldn't escape my carbon fetish...
I considered buying elsewhere and dipping but Richard G (who I would trust in heartbeat if he had the right car for me) said it probably wash't a good idea to remove interior parts and then dip them.

MCS - please post a video when you get chance of the pickup and sound...

If I bought a 458 my wife would divorce me!

Congrats on the upgrade, that's quite a step. Having looked at alternatives to the GS and GTS there's really very little within sensible/affordable realms to warrant a change. Fast Germans including Porsches just don't do it for me and they're the only cars under £100k outside of Astons (also not my thing) that are remotely close to everything a Maserati delivers. The next league is Ferrari 458s, 599s and although I love the look of the 458 I still struggle with the noise they make. I know nothing of McLarens (can't afford one), so would next hanker as I do for a Huracan. At £180k used is that really twice a Ferrari, 3 times a GTS or 4 times my GranSport?

It's a wonderfully first world problem, and you're spot on, Mark. I came within a gnat's whisker of a GT3 recently, which was hilarious and insane but in so many ways nothing like as good as the GTS in "normal" use, and with less charisma, plus Mrs Crud mandates four seats for another year or so. The 599 is now climbing in price and is frequently more expensive than an FF (FFS!) and, frankly, quite old technology and high running costs (plus the seat "issue"). The Stradale is too much the same as the GTS. Sure, it might handle better and have a nice party frock but when I see it on the drive it would look just the same.

The new McLaren Sports Series looks good, and FFs are still coming down. Money no object I'd have an F12. When two seats is good, anyway.
