16.5k is too low for your car...Just have to look at the classifieds to see that and there aren't many 2004 model years out there. A specialist would put yours up with warrenty for around 22995k I would imagine so you should be able to get close to 20k if not more.....19995 would make it attractive to some.

Yeh gads gentlemen...I paid more than that for it before i spent the several Thou on its fixes and upgrades.
I see 2002 models for £19k.
Mine has to be a bit better than that surely...did i mention i got some furry dice for the rear view mirror??? LOL!!
If i cant get a trade and maybe £6k of my hard earned then i will keep it.
I have placed it on pistonheads for £24,500 as an PX exchange rate(cause we always overvalue for PX) but of course for cash i will drop to £22,500.
Its got 11 months MOT and Tax and will not need a thing done for around 12 months and then just an oil change and filter.
THis is now a risk free car to all pretence and purposes and even at £22,500 i will have lost many many thousands but i knew i was doing it as a labour of love anyway

Depends on if you want a quick sale really Adam.....Problem is you never get your money that you spend on it. It just makes it more attractive to buyers. Personally I think it's worth the 22500 you want but you are in the price range of cars with warrenty and this appeals to buyers of these cars. But I stress I think it's worth every penny...It's a ******* now.

Maserati will warrenty the car if i wanted.
They have gone through it with a fine tooth comb and they are confident its in VGC now.
The "turbo whistle" i have.. is a leaking exhaust bracket which again is being done next week.
I am not really after a quick sale but i also dont think i would be dissapointed in paying a little bit more for a totally sorted car that has nothing needed for a very long time.
Brakes, tyres,RFL and MOT,servicing, filters, belts, sensors, oils there is nothing the car is in need of doing.
I know its my car and as such i may be looking at it with rose coloured glasses but if i had a choice of the similar car on pistonheads to mine or mine i would pay the extra for piece of mind.
The other car (same colour as mine but cheaper) on pistonheads is Not "right" the leather seats and armrest are all different colours and to me it shouts "neglected" but also it will have unknown aspects until an indy or maserati inspect it.
As i said..I would like to trade my car and some cash for a grandsport but if it does not happen i am not going to be too sad as its spyder weather at the moment anyway LOL (i am geting a burnt nose though!)

Saw that one Adam at Jason Barkers..He is a good dealer....Thought it was yours at first. Looking at whats on PH it's def one of the nicest examples. The closest one I would say is the green one but green not well liked.

The green one selling through hollyoaks? thats a real dog i have spoken in depth about that car with both salesman and its a stear clear jobby IMHO.Bad history few knocks etc..
The Other S21YDR on PH is very similar to kine but as i said i am concerned about the internal leather its all different colours.(plus it wont have had the extensive works)

still its a good looking car...reminds me of something.....

Sorry, not meaning to criticise a member or their car, but you made a huge fuss when you bought it that the dealer sold it with "full service history" when in fact it just had a couple of stamps in the book and nothing else, when it should have at least 7 stamps in the book by now, just on age. I know the dealer then paid for your 31.5k service at Carrs, but I see that you're also selling it with "full service history".....is this really accurate?

In terms of your advert, I think that "no ride without the asking price as full deposit in cash" will put people off. I'd leave that discussion until someone comes to look at the car - very few people are going to hand over over £20k as a 'deposit'. Most people rely on insurance (one day insurance if necessary) or will settle for a passenger ride + inspection.

It does look nice though!

Have to say G....Nigw has some valid points there......so if some one asks has it been serviced according to the manufacturers specification? On this point alone it was mis-represented by them......(trading standards should be involved).......and no way can it be said by anyone now that its all of a sudden gained a FSH just by being serviced once by them!

I also agreed about the last paragraph........it will put off a huge percentage of potential viewers....plus tyre kickers too!

Adam the Spyder looks fantastic. I just wondered why you fell out of love so quickly especially with all this blazing sunshine........seems like the perfect time to own a Spyder and the one thing you have over us coupe and Gransport owners is that you can truly hear that 4.2 V8

Hmm, if they said that then Carrs are talking rubbish I suspect! Are you sure they didn't say "servicing is now up to date"? This is different and would be achieved by their 31.5k service.

Adam, just to give you an idea on price was with my car dealer friend today and this is what a 60k miles 53 2004 Spyder books at....He did say these cars are hard to value as they are worth what someone is willing to pay...The best examples go for more where as ropy ones no matter how cheap will struggle to sell. With your mileage then you can expect a little more.

Franchised Dealer £22,995
Independent Dealer £21,125
Private Good £19,070
Private Poor £15,785
Part Exchange £17,015

But the deficit of a huge gap not being evidenced for a service etc..........very....very poor........................I for one wouldn't even consider going to look at it if not evidenced!

according to Carrs now Yes.
I will go into detail later

Details:

Carrs advised the service was wrong but then they looked closer when they finally did the service week or so ago.
This isdid a pre purchase brief courtesy check and drove it and gave it a good looking at.
what we have in reality is this:
Car was supplied byy Maranello to Carrs exeter 09/09/2003 as MY04.
08/04/2004 4259 miles Marenello major 6000 mls service in advance.
11/05/2005 15314 miles Tallecreast major 18500 mls service in advance
28/12/2006 20470 miles Deutche Marques LTD Major 31,000 mls service in advance.
02/06/2009 32780 miles Lancasters of colechester annual service and inspection Clutch, spigot and thrust replacement
10/05/2010 35362 miles Dealership who suplied to me annual oil change and filters.
03/06/2010 36454 miles Carrs exeter major 43,500 mls service well in advance.
It was only after seeing this that they realised there mistake. between 2007 and 2008 there was 12,000 miles covered without a service but then one was not due.
this is why they couldn`t stamp the 31000 mile sheet because it had already been done.
I agree i was the first to be "up in arms about this" but then this was just one element of a long list of problems that the car had that quite frankly it shouldn`t have had.
If the service was the only issue then sure i would have been a little annoyed but had the car been as described then maybe i would have thought hard about it.

If you think that this is somewhat short of a full service being a bit too far in advance then maybe i ought to change it to allow the potential buyers to decide.
I am not trying to fool anyone and if you say its not complete then i will change it,but Martin at Emblem contacted me and said the history was fine in his opinion but i cant remember if that was email or phonecall.
anyway what do you think guys?

I have addressed the points raised Nigw and has altered the description to let the buyer decide on what constitutes a full service history.
NigW there was a lot more wrong with the car than just the service history and i have paid twice what the dealer refunded in costs to put everything else right.
The problem is this: the car has been serviced too early on all its major services and thats what threw up the confusion and carrs did what we all thought was the 31,500 mile service but in essence they have again done the 43,000 miler well in advance and this is why they stamped the "wrong" page of the service book(correct me if i am wrong).

Its a beautiful car and if its going to be an "issue" then i will keep it forever.
Maybe its as bad to do the servicing too early.... as it is to do it too late .....or even not at all?
can we penalise the owners for doing the servicing in advance of its due milages?
Interesting question i guess

Always an awkward one the G.....no probs about an early service, indeed it could be said to take the place of the ANNUAL service its meant to get regardless, but sometimes people combine the two if they aren't doing many miles!

Anyways good luck with your sale and I hope the posts on here have helped a bit.
