I was very close getting the grigio mercury wheel colour. Dark is a good thing.

I don't think you should stop future owners from having FM capability, so I'd keep the bee sting. But it's your car mate. :)

I'll probably leave it on as its original but it does look like a bit of an afterthought, like the first one rolled off the production line and the MD asked why the radio didn't work , oh **** where's the drill

Same as BMW Z4 , on the z4 forum most people swapped it for a stubby aerial but you tend to lose a little reception and as the standard reception is pretty arwful might not be a option

I suppose it'd be sensible to change all the bulbs while it's stripped , anybody changed them for LED

What are you going to be stopping off the car Darren, let me know what time your there on Wednesday, its my day off and I am stripping my GS for paint also so ill pop round and give you some advice as I have stripped bumpers several times.

If you have to remove the front and rear bumpers, you will need more than a day to do that mate, the front bumper will take you all day to do, rear is about 2hrs.

Wing mirrors, you have to remove the door cards so thats another couple of hours, badges and rear lights and trim another 2hrs.

2 full days to strip her I recon.

Overview:

Front Bumper:
http://www.sportsmaserati.co.uk/showthread.php/20397-How-to-Front-Bumper-Removal
EST time: 6-8hrs due to corroded fixing and terrible access
1. Jack up the front of the car and remove the wheels
2. Remove both arch liners
3. Remove bumper under tray
4. Remove the front grill and the fixings on the top of the bumper where the bonnet shut is, making sure you make a note of the shims.
5. From underneath, with a long extension, undo the sidelight retaining bolts, use a suction cup and extract both sidelights out the front.
6. Remove the front headlight retaining bolt by putting a small socket through the sidelight hole and up
7. Remove the headlight rear bolts from the L brackets and the lower mounting and remove the brackets as this aids removal
8. Right headlight - Remove the headlight to inner wing mounts with a 10mm spanner, the nut facing the engine.
8a. Left headlight - You cannot gain access to the inner wing mount from behind, you need to remove the left hand engine cover and access it from the engine bay.
9. Unhook the rubber gaskets and pull to give more space, remove the headlight out the front of the car, watching not to drag the underside over the bumper as it will scratch it
10. undo the 3 fixings down the inner wing to bumper, one being a left hand thread at the front on right side
11. Undo the 2 bolts on the underside of where the top the wing meets the top of the bumper.
12. Undo the main bumper mounting bolts
13. remove the washer jet supply pipes if you have washer jets
14. Mask up the front wings where the bumper meets it with thick bodyshop tape (you will thank me later)
15. Remove the bumper from the car, collapse on the floor and recover with your hand bleeding all over the place.

Rear Bumper:
http://www.sportsmaserati.co.uk/showthread.php/20398-How-to-Rear-Bumper-Removal
Est time: 2-3hrs
1. Jack up the rear of the car and remove the wheels
2. Undo the lower screw from the arch liners where it meets the lower edge of the rear bumper
3. Remove the boot weather seal, boot floor and side panels
2. Remove the battery
3. Remove the amp behind the battery (if you have one)
3. Remove the bumper under tray
4. Undo the 2 17mm bolts from the underside of the car
5. Undo the screws that go along the top centre edge of the bumper where it meets the boot opening
6. Undo the 3 screws on each side from inside the boot where the bumper fixes to the rear wings
7. Mask up the rear wings where the bumper meets them on the side with thick bodyshop tape (you will thank me later)
8. Remove the bumper rewards from the car taking note to remove any electrical connections to reverse sensors if applicable.

Wow thanks that's a big help
I'm a bit annoyed with myself for not ordering new side windows as it looks like a previous owner had an affair and his wife found out while he was locked in the car as there's chips in the glass on both sides

They're only £22 each at eurospares but with their snails pace delivery service I doubt they'd arrive in time

I'm aiming to be there by 8am on Wednesday which will be a 5am start so I may start to wilt a bit by the afternoon

Try Meridien down the road at Meridien, speak to Ross and mention this forum and Me and your get some discount. He will get them pretty quick.

Id be interested to see how they come out, if you can take some pics and do a how to thread, that would be great.

I was thinking with a hammer but that would be just one picture :D

Eurospares list used windows at £22 or new at £45 but to order only so I suppose they'd need to be used to be on the shelf

Perfect timing with the bumper removal guide as I've got to remove mine next week to fit a new lower part after my disagreement with a badger. The replacement is with Phil at the moment being painted. Looking forward to getting the car back on the road, it's amazing how much damage a badger can do to the plastic parts on a car.

Matt what's the lift you have under the GS?
I'm sure I have looked at something similar but the load rating was not high enough for lifting the Maser.

It's a hydraulic scissor lift. Cost about £1500 and a 3 tonne rating. Only lifts the car to 1200mm but that's all the height I have in the garage so perfect.
