Hard to understand the motive of people like this, hopefully his prosecution will send a clear message to others like this.

Wonder what kind of slap on the wrist he'll get

There's plenty of kids paying £9000 a year student loans off for the rest of their lives, fine him the 9k to be paid off over 25 years and 6 months inside

My faith in the system and courts dealing with issues like this are pretty much non existent. Just a couple of examples from a long list for you.

Front door of the building where I work. heavy wooden victorian type with panels got kicked through by two yobs. Police picked them up after I had detained them long enogh for the police to get there. Both arrested and taken into custody. The following morning i get a phone call from the police to say that the two individuals would pay for the damage if I dropped the charges ! Not a chance was my reply otherwise they can do exactly the same next week and have nothing on their record as previous. They were charged with drunk and disorderly fined £60 each and let out the following day. I had to pay the costs of the door repair myself. Police up £120 me down £££'s

Another occasion someone clearly out of their mind on drugs and alcohol tried to assault me. Police turned up quickly and mob handed to be fair to them. This was a known person to them. After a fracas outside between this character and the police he was arrested and taken away. Job done you may think.
Nope they drove him 6 miles away and released him. 45 minutes later he was back on my doorstep again.

One of the MP's about 18 months ago was stood on his soap box saying the public should intervene if they see any crime taking place. I have to do it from time to time but I wouldn't suggest anyone does as there is no guarantee your going to get police support quickly. Just goes to show how far out of touch with reality some people are.

What do I think Aston martin man will get for a blatant act of criminal damage and vandalism ? A nights B&B slap on the wrist. small fine of £60 to £100 and if it ever went to court then possibly a driver awareness course for good measure.

Aston Martin owner on the other hand will end up with a £9K bill or a heafty insurance claim and potential increase in his premium.

I'm not knocking the police and what they do. They are under funded, under pressure and under staffed. That means that they don't have enough time to deal with all cases as they should be. They also know that if some things go to court then its a long costly time consuming process that ultimately may end in a slap on the wrist and don't do it again as the prisions are already full.

Until such a time that the system and courts hand out consistant hefty punishments for all crimes then we all end up having to put up with a level of crime that is deemed as acceptable by the powers that be.

Rant over ;)

It's always been the same

20 years ago my sister had a job that finished at 9pm , she came out to her car to find somebody had kicked the door mirror off.

She reported it and they had it on CCTV , a copper recognised the guy and he got arrested

Found guilty, fined and ordered to pay her £150 for the mirror and stress

She never got a penny , she contacted the court over about 18 months , last time they said he's moved and we've lost him.

But everybody in the court got paid including the solicitors

In all honesty if they said at the next election were going to put tax up 1% but it'll be ring fenced to improve, run and build new prisons so we can give Scum like this proper sentences I'd pay it

When they do go down its not like they say it is, a guy I know's son in law is inside for selling pot , he's in his cell 23 hours a day 7 days a week

Another guy I know used to be a prison officer, he's got some stories that stop you sleeping at night

People that have killed with reckless driving have ended up in cat A prisons because there's no room , one guy ended up sharing with a lifer who beat his face to a pulp for snoring

I always wonder though if there is another side to the story. We are always quick to jump to conclusions. Whilst I don't condone him keying the car perhaps he and his kid almost got run over by the Aston driver speeding down the road?

About the only positive use of social media, you do some cunti5h act like this and people will share it like wildfire with the obvious outcome that he will be caught. You can attack a man, deal with him face to face but to touch his car is the lowest of the low!

A few years ago I woke up to my RS4 having had the wing Mirrors ripped off the car. I called the plod and they shrugged it off and gave me a crime ref. One day later they appear on EBay, I call the plod again to tell them about it and they say we can't go round there. I tell them I will with a bat and they then say that would be silly and could get me in bother. It has got to the point where the criminal has more rights than the Victim!

What a mess of a society we live in at times. You get caught doing this, you go down for it IMO! Either that or you spend a week outside the town hall in the stocks with a banner on you detailing the crime whilst the public pour scorn on you.

I know what your saying hoyin and in this particular case if there had been a near miss dangerous driving incident round the corner the camera onboard system would have recorded it. The police could then take the appropriate action. The camera can lie if its not showing the complete picture.

There is an argument for onboard cameras in all cars. the trouble is they would become the next gadget to be nicked out of cars along with any other items they take a fancy too.

All we get now is false promises of toughening up on crime and anti social behaviour and then nothing changes at all unless there is an incident that causes public out cry.

I shall just pop out and get another soap box to stand on ;)

99% of the time there is no smoke without fire BUT that 1% chance means that it could just be the act of a Vandal with no motive.

Don't start me off. I stick to solid rules on sourcing kit from eBay sellers but lifted my rules once & got burnt. Needed a specific model laptop for a customer & nobody had stock except fellla on EBay.

Long story short...paid by bank transfer, laptop never arrived, known scammer to police, happened to many others before & after me. Finally he was caught, police asked for statement & evidence for prosecution which I gave no issues.

He got 18 months. When I contacted the Police officer to say ok when & how do I get my money back from him there was a long pause. Then a kind of I'm not sure what you mean & I don't understand tone. I said well he took my money, you know about this, he has been prosecuted for it so I want my money back. They acted like I was an alien from outer space as was nuts. I didn't see what the issue was and thought it would be obvious. Never saw a penny.

Don't get me wrong I'm not condoning crime but they say it doesn't pay. I'm not so sure sometimes!

Wonder if the police or CPS or courts/govt ever got money back off him or assets confiscated then kept it? Just as bad if so. Where does all the assets or money go in these cases?

I stick firmly to my rules now!

Sorry, but in my experience, Police today are idle lying ar5eholes, they just turn up for work, but do as little as possible..!! Reporting a crime against yourself is like painting a target on your head, get nowhere fast.
Take matters in to your own hands, don't involve Police Shirkers, you will get nowhere, "do unto others as is done unto you and get away with it, like they do"..!!

i'm biting my lip before the soap box comes out again. i've had good and bad experiences with the police. Sadly the bad out weight the good.
i can relate to rockits experience nothing to do with ebay but a theft of property occured backed up with documentary evidence wher the person involved admited they had the goods are were not returning them. Police involved and they warned said person to return the goods or the would face charges. person returned some of the good damaged the rest is still missing. Police follow up after in excess of 30 calls im sure you can guess is nothing. Even a DC instructing the original PC involved in the case on two occasions to resolve has resulted in nothing.

while i try and keep a balanced opinion of the police and try and understand the pressure and constraints they work under. Sometimes they do make it very difficult.

its fairly obvious to me that dealing with crime from the top down doesnt work. Try dealing with the smaller crimes upwards. Then at least the everyday person in the street can see things are being done.

OK I tried to bite my lip.

Court can award compensation to any victim in addition to any other penalty when found guilty.

A young lad was messing about with my friends car, he asked him to stop, later at 3am he was arrested for a racist comment (which he never made), the case went to the magistrates court then the crown court. I and others wrote character references for the Crown Court sitting plus a Barrister from France was needed. After a few minutes the judge threw out the case and said it should never have come to occur to court, friend was discharged.

Cost him £10k+ it so easy for people to abuse the justice system.

I get loads of positive comments about the Maserati, people seem to love them.

I've had a few stupid comments such as "poor man's Ferrari" and people suggesting that I'm an enthusiastic masturbator, though i assume these people just know me and the gestures have nothing to do with my car
