Trying to stay positive here but if the curfew we're currently in doesn't work then we will be locked down for sure again.Le Mans looks iffy if vaccine rates don't increase quickly.

You would be much better off trying to stay negative (test).Trying to stay positive here but if the curfew we're currently in doesn't work then we will be locked down for sure again.
If we where in the 80's....

My God, highest number of dead today .........like ever.
I found some great late minute breaks on ceefax , got 2 nights in a 5 star hotel in knightsbridge including breakfast for less than the cost of the breakfast on it's own
Like most others, trying to find something positive, and if you look hard enough you will find them. But I have a genuine question and should not feel ill at ease to ask it ! This evening I read that the UK now has the highest death rate in the World, why ?.Yeah, except not quite. Highest number by date reported The graph of 'by date of death' looks very different. To say nothing of the graphs compared to 2003 and 2016 (from memory) where there were higher deaths per head of population.
No nuance
<edit> And I'm not saying that the situation is not serious, it is!
Here's another. Someone with COVID is admitted to hospital every 30 seconds. Except that includes the ones that are catching it hospital having been admitted for something else and completely bypasses the fact that someone is discharged having recovered every 40 seconds (roughly)....

But the guidance says you shouldn't, if at all possible....you could get run over by a bus and be counted.

Ok thanks, I’m not going to check how many people in the UK have been run over by a bus in the last 28 days. Maybe tomorrow, If someone hasn’t already checked ! But to read that we have had 1820 today which now means we have the highest death rate in the world naturally makes me wonder why. Is it really Only the UK that use deaths within 28 days of a positive test ?There is a significant difference in the way deaths are reported. Nowt to do with fiddling the figures. But ours are “death within 28 days of a positive test” you could get run over by a bus and be counted. Other places it has to be listed as a cause on the death certificate
Living here in France it's been talked about over the last week.I have always maintained that fabric face coverings could do more harm than good, the French seem to thing they may not be helping:

There was absolutely nothing wrong with Phil’s comment, a very fair comment indeed and quite acceptable and justified, not sure why you have any concerns with it.Umm, I have to go back a stage and ask 'what do you mean by death rate'?
Deaths per day?
Deaths per year?
Death per head of population?
Death per number of people infected?
Got a link to the original statement? Certainly by some measures we have, and some of the answers are perfectly accurate. By other measures we haven't.
And it's a perfectly fair question. Phil's comment was also totally fair, but not quite the unmitigated negative that a reduction of nuance can lead us to believe.
Hopefully someone took something of a message that "It's bad, but it might not be as bad as you think"
