There is ‘some’ truth to this ‘rolled on a virgin’s thigh’ saying:

Once the tobacco leaves have fermented and aged they are shipped to the cigar factories in large bags (think ton bags).
The first process they go through is the flattening and stretching of each single leaf as they are extracted from these large bags - and THIS is actually done by a team of women who flatten and stretch over their thighs! I very much doubt any of these women are virgins though.. more like in their 40s and 50s and rather stretched themselves!
