So, got the shocks done. Rears lowered by 30mm and now at least looks standard. The fronts on the other hand.... the left one is screwed up 30mm higher than the right one for some bizarre reason. It has to come out to get it freed up Which will be done on sat. That’s not the really strange thing, although its 30mm higher on the left side, the car is actually lower at the front on the left side by 5mm. Wtf? Whilst in there I noticed that both steering arm boots are perished so I ordered two from euroscares £70 plus 21 for postage to n.i. Talk about being penalised because I live in the colonies. Is there anything else that I should look out for at the front end whilst I’m in there? Thanks in advance, neil
Pi55er - you can get cheap boots( for a Porsche IIRC) that cost @£12...!
Check you ball joint boots for perishing, holes/damage. If these let the sh1te in, the BJs go bad and its an expensive lark replacing wishbones cos thats what it amounts to..!
Its worth having a close look at the arms inboard too- any signs of cracking around the main flanbloc bushes would be a problem....
Im sure theres other stuff in the wheel wells. Front subframes are worth checking over for rot. Brake pipes also known for corroding but these are more underside of the car than wheel wells...
Id definitely be thinking of wheel alignment in the very least after this, if you arent already..
If it was me, Id be wanting to get a full geo done.
