They were not that bad, just had unbalanced styling.....But a very chep way to get into a Ferrari...Running it, now there's a different matter...I do not disslike to be honest...The red one looks OK.

Trust me, never buy one, at the Ferrari specialist where i have worked we got loads in and they are just terrible, you want a real good one you need to shell out at least 20K, for about 4K more you could get a 308 or a 348.

Funny ones these, I was tempted (briefly) by a Mondial T before buying my 3200 - Myles at Emblem reckoned it would be dearer to run and actually a QV was a better idea, but the 3200 was the best idea of all.

I used to have a blue 308 Dino which I loved (I was 25 and foolish!). Not the fastest thing on the earth's surface but it would slide beautifully, made an amazing racket and I loved the looks. I ragged it relentlessly, it lived outside, and a burst coolant hose was the only breakdown, probably due to it being stored for years prior to my "care"!!).

It turned in to the deposit on our first house, but note the "our" ;o)

Bought for about £13k from memory, sold for a few hundred less, it was cheap motoring!!

308 Dino...is that the yellow one that Richard Hammond had on Top Gear when Jeremy had the Merek....

And what a dog it was!!!

Strangely down on power which should be easy to remedy - probably a tune would do it, unlikely to be anything fundamentally wrong with a 308 as the engines are as tough as old boots.

Trouble with 308's is when you start chasing the tin worm, and being the poor cousin there are lots of ropey GT4's around that will never recoup the cost of a restoration.

Mind you, there's always those Polish restorers....

See now I like that car.....It looked like a nice place to be from the driver seat....cheap to...but as Paco has mentioned no would probably spend the cost of a GS keeping it in good fettle.

The spare parts are expensive on those things.

Er, no they're not!! Sorry Adam!

The only wallet crusher you get with a 308 is bodywork. Spares are generally plentiful, servicing is perhaps a bit frequent for a daily driver these days, but at least they don't need engine oil freshly harvested from the scales of the Tasmanian Albino Memaid or other such nonsense!

Try and find a window motor and you might be in difficulty, but really they are a pretty basic proposition to run. I bought mine after it had a load of money spent on it at Moto-technique (sp?) one of the top Ferrari bodyshops in the country. That was a bill I was glad not to pay.

I had to rebuild the LSD due to it not being used and the friction plates corroding, and that was nearly a grand but most of it was labour.

Even the aircon worked!!!

Ahh, getting all misty-eyed now!!

In fact it was identical to this one http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1808043.htm but with Crema and blue interior.

Fair Play, i am not going to argue, when i worked at JMH ferrari specialists one came in and he needed a new rear window, apparently that is an expensive part?

Paco, really like that...There is something honest about the way the exhaust just comes out the back of the car and shouts at you..Lovely classic for run of the mile money.

From memory GTB/S's had a very curved rear screen that was designed not to distort the view from the mirror, and they were thus really expensive to replace new. The GT4 one was flat. Bet there's a load of used ones from breakers around though, which is what I would buy if needing one. Same as the chrome bumper surrounds on GT4's - I think they even ran out during production and some final cars had GRP surrounds which look a bit grim! Now that lots of GT4's or rusted away I bet you can pick up a chrome surrund for not much.

Service items are Mondeo money though!
