The point is Frank where do you find a small sports coupe that delivers that kind of performance and has two proper rear seats. I cant think of anything unless you go much bigger like a Granturismo or a 4 seater Ferrari

Another reason why I think Gransports will appreciate in time and become a collector's car is because it heralds the end of the fast Ferrari powered small sports coupe for Maserati. With the Granturismo S sharing the QP platform it is significantly bigger. I know Maserati are talking about a new small Maserati to retail at around £50,000 but I doubt that will be powered by Ferrari. At present there is nothing in the Maserati line up which offers Granturismo S performance with the baby size of the Gransport.

The new small Maserati is to be Ferrrai V8 powered UM.....The only none Ferrai engine will be the Diesel but even that is to be breathed on by Ferrari......

I'll run naked round Asda's car park if the new small Maserati has a V8 under the hood. Turbo V6 is my bet driven by EU legislation.

Taken from an EVO interview with the CEO of Maserati Miles........I'll pick which ASDA Miles...

The Ferrari engines will be direct injection V6 and V8 petrol units including a Biturbo version...All cars wil use the 8 speed ZF auto gearbox ... Top models will have the option of four wheel drive.

Hope you're right Andy, but the bet stands......

Oh and choose a small car park would you? :D

Top model is looking like a V8...There looks like being 4 engine type for the car......Maserati want to sell this car in big numbers so will need the variety.....Remember the interview was with Maserati so should be the truth......

IMO, flagship Italian marques should have a n/a V8 at the very least. The only other acceptable configuration is a n/a V12.

And if it happens I'll be close behind in a green mankini.

I think the chances of FIAT group selling a Ferrari-engined V8 for 50 grand are slim to none, and Slim is out of town ...

I cannot imagine it will be a V8 at £50,000 and I would say Chrysler V6 Turbo

Maserati interview said Ferrari are working on a V6 for the car...Their own engine...a Ferrari V8 will be top of the range but obviously not at £50,000.....The only Chrysler engine on the range will be a Diesel and that will also be shipped and worked on by Ferrari who are saying all the internals will be changed to make it a Maserati engine..??...Diesel Maserati.....The above I I said came from the CEO so see no reason for it not to be true...

If Maserati are going to use a Chrysler engine, I would not take issue with it being the soot chucker, they are not refined engines by any stretch of the imagination.

As long as they don't go messing with the petrol engine supplier, they will be fine in my book.
