I would say you can add 30k over the price of the 50k small Maserati for the V8............The interview said that V8 will not be a Chrysler engine and the V6 looks like being a Bi turbo which is being designed and made by Ferrari...Not CHrysler input on these two engines....

Another reason why I think Gransports will appreciate in time and become a collector's car is ...

I have doubts any modern car will become a classic in the way older models do today. A 'Classic' is definded by a limited production run when new, lusted after by all, and time. There are simply too many coupe's out there in the world to enable the car to reach proper classic status.

This on the other hand is and follows the rules above http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3435634.htm

Sought after the GS will be, but not a classic...and lets hope there is fuel to make them work in 50 years

Good point Peter.

I suppose we have to look back to the 1980's to get an idea of your theory is right.

The problem here Maserati were not making cars of a particularly great standard so better to look at the other Italian makes.

Let's take Alfa. I would regard the Sud (for all it's rust issues) and the V6 GTV as classic cars. They had a large production run so I think the higher end Maserati coupes of today, 3200 AC, GS & MC will become classics. Numbers are and will always fall as the cars become uneconomical to repair. The badge also carries alot of weight.

My personal opinions of course.

Integrales/E30 M3's...these are the type of cars that become classics early rather than time making them classics ...As Pete has said limited run well respee desirablected cars............A GS will desirable but most cars of this type do not start going up in price for good examples until they are 40/50 years old......By then they will be limited around as lots will have left this world and thats when they become worth a fewe pennies.

Funny, I was chatting with my Bro recently - a good mate of his is in oil, and says openly that there is plenty of oil to last us, our children and their children for all of their lives.....

Anecdotal, I'll grant you.
