I'm with you on the Porsche - yes, it was a fantastic drive and I'll struggle to better that in anything for many years no doubt. Although I really didn't like mine much, it was mainly down to the problems I had with it and I could well be tempted again by a PDK version.....then again, may be not as I'd still be stuck with the looks (I'm not a fan) and the pretty crappy sound! The Porsche needed the Bose stereo to drown out the 'nothingness' sound it made (I did have a Gen-2 which had the 3.8 DI engine though....supposedly the 3.6 Gen-1's sound better).
If you decide to upgrade the audio in the Maser then give me a shout as I've now got plenty of experience under my belt with this lol! I now have something I am reasonably happy with but it's still not as good as the Porsche system which I think was as much down to how it was engineered into the car as anything else.
M5...what a coincidence as I am also showing keen interest in that. I nearly bought an E63 AMG a few months ago....having had 2 C63's I do appreciate the AMG way (DEM...you know - that car that you finally admitted to me was better than the M3
) but the E was just too 'old' for me and the depreciation is horrendous compared to the C. The M5 will no doubt be the better car and for once, even more powerful than the equivalent AMG and history dictates I'd be one of the first on the list (I had one of the first e92 M3's in the UK after putting a deposit down months before launch date...about this time 4 years ago actually!). However, once bitten and all that...the M3 lost a fortune in a year (which to me is significant as I change cars at least every year!).....I reckon a new M5 could be even worse so I'm holding a bit to see if it goes the same way as the E63 and drops £20-30k in year. I'd rather someone else take the hit these days!
I'll probably wait......and then go and buy a new M6 when they're launched and lose even more money (I do like the new 6 a lot and I had one of the old M6's which was, apart from the gearbox and challenging aesthetics, fantastic).

I admit it looks a bit plain in pics bur reckon it'll look good in the metal...the new 5 has a habit of doing that.
If I get one, I'll take you for a 'proper' run in it (you know.....like out to Germany or something...if you ever come
) and see what you think then Mercs.....BMWS......assorted other mundane marques....who occasionally make a supped up version to make them and their buyers/owners SEEM more interesting are all..........................

Seriously though...German metal is VERY good in engineering terms and I can't deny that my M3, M6, C63's and 911 were much better engineered than the Maser. It's a tough pill to swallow and of course the Maser has plenty of other redeeming features.
I'm as much and Italian car nut as anyone on here (check out my car history for evidence of that!) but we must all appreciate...there is another (and often better) way
I reckon this could be my last post as I now get BANNED!

What Andrew your going to get an M5?? and of course i will go to Germany, no sh!tty school education for me anymore. Just re read your post, E63? they are a beast, i do like those.
