Is it possible for a workhorse & toy to be the same car?

Look up C43 ( V6 Twin turbo / 370bhp - AMG sports exhaust which sounds as much fun as my Grancab V8 - added tech / comfort - 4 seats - 30+mpg - with four wheel drive that can outrun a C63 to the legal limits!)

With this in mind, I was wondering if there is a car out there (not necessarily a Maserati) that could be both a weekend toy and a workhorse?
Capable of doing 400 miles in a day and not leaving you aching like a mo fo, returning decent MPG, but also gets the pulse racing when you want to take it out for a blatt!

Any ideas?

By definition, a workhorse can’t be a toy. To me, a car is one or the other; you look forward to the times you take a toy out but that anticipation reduces the more you use it. Sure there are fast cars that can be used everyday, like a 911 but you’d need something a bit more special to look forward to driving. My 335D is a bit quicker than my Spyder but I look forward to driving the Maser.

Used Merc c43 AMG....estate available too.
Technically amazing,Practical, reliable, 4 wheel drive, comfortable and a very very good exhaust noise too!

BMW M2 (Manual), either the original or the Competition. Both variants are very capable along with being fast and fun. The quoted MPG is not horrendous either.

Of course it can but you are compromising. However, you save lots of ££ by going from two to one cars. The C43 sounds great and has enough go. Personally I would get the coupe or convertible as for me estates are not special enough even though I have one.

The other option is the 6 series Grancoupe or whatever it is called. They look great and are cheap to buy.

MPG is irrelevant really as you are buying cheap so put some of the money back into fuel so go petrol. 6 cylinder turbo diesels look fast but they run out of power too easily and are a none event to drive. All IIRC and I've had a DMS 535d.

I daily'd a 350z and it was used for tip runs, house move, although needed lots of trips (most things flat pack fitted thankfully but had to get a friend's lorry for bed and larger things), did 4 hour drives with ease although road noise could be pain. Driving round London in traffic - gear changing could get tiresome too.

Not sure about decent mpg, think I may have been high 20s on motorway cruise. Definitely got the pulse racing with various tyre setups and road quality/rain.

I'm reminiscing of them quite a bit so going to take a look at 370z's when time allows.

Is this not the holy grail, indeed the answer to life, the universe and everything? One car that does it all!
May I suggest the Mercedes S class 500 coupe. A beautiful car and probably the best interior of anything modern in my opinion.
Available from mid £30K, a V8 and will do an alleged 25mpg. I rest my case!

The answer to your question is no ... compromise never works.

Have a workhorse and a cheap toy ... you will not regret it.
