Yeah i didn't sleep very well, too excited!
So what's this x pipe all about then? Didn't think you would need to make any mods on an mc stradale!?
Cheers tom

Maserati's cry out for an exhaust mod. There are very few on here who have not done anything to their exhaust.
Infact I don't know anyone who hasn't......

Personally I'm very happy with the noise of my car but plenty of people on here like to make them louder.

It's -1 and foggy here in Leeds this morning so be careful out there! Enjoy the journey both today and with Maserati.

-3c in my part of Scotland. Had the Maser washed yesterday so it can stay tucked up all day.

I running my Stradale on winter tyres and make a big difference not only when there is ice about but also damp/wet conditions......

I tend to swap cars on a regular basis, the Maserati GT S i had previously and now the Stradale are the only cars where I have not changed or modified the OEM exhaust. The Stradale makes a fantastic sound in Race mode and I would want to hear a car fitted with an X pipe before fitting one to mine.

Enjoy the drive home, they are great cars. My collection from JCT 600 in Leeds back to Cambridge returned the best MPG I have seen in mine........

Very true, I drove mine today on P Zero Corsas over to Shiltech which was a 3 hour round trip and it was hairy at times to say the least as the temperature didn't get above -1. It was worth the trip though, the X-Pipe it is now sporting is just sublime!

Did you go Larini Stu?

It doesn't make it much louder on mine, what it did was open up the cackles and pops on the downshifts. It's a MUST DO modification and worth every penny. I also changed the paper filter for a BMC item, not for performance improvements which is they are there, a team of scientists would struggle to measure it, but actually because it's a higher quality item than OEM and stopping dust from getting into the engine is a good thing.

I have gone Larini X pipe and BMC filter too.

For me, the difference with the X is a slightly deeper rumble on tick over and as Athol says, a noticeable increase in the pops and crackles when you back off the throttle. On a run in sport mode, I think it is a tad louder but only very slightly. To me, it now sounds perfect and I won't be doing anything more to the exhaust

w5pwr, you're welcome to have a listen and ride in mine before you commit. I'm not a million miles from Cambridge, I'm around 20 minutes from Peterborough

A man after my own heart Stu. I did have a look at the Larini back boxes too however 1) They are a fortune and 2) I'm totally happy with the sound now. I agree that it's ideal and doesn't need any more fettling.

Installing the BMC was a mission. How many screws to get the engine covers off!! Thinking about having those covers carbon hydrodipped, just to make it look more interesting when you pop the hood.

Can someone please send me the link to the BMC filter as I will add that if it makes a difference?

Fitted one to my 4200, purely for ease of not having to dismantle half the car to change it, got mine from euro carparts.

Got mine through Ebay from an Italian seller. Obviously make sure it's a 4.7 version.

Also fitted these to my Ghibli, the **** that came out of the housings was incredible. The paper filters are not up to the job on that car. It's takes two filters though, one per bank, so double the cost. Pulled a couple of Gitanes butts out and a bunch of light sand. Must have been from Le Mans 2015.

Stuart - can I ask how much the Larini x-pipe was from Shiltech? I've looked on their web-page and can see prices for back boxes and Sport cats, but can't see a price for the x-pipe... I'm still undecided whether I want / need to put an x-pipe on mine, as opinions seem to differ how much difference it would make given that I have the grandad's Auto slush/gearbox...
