GranSport LE with sub 50k miles on it will cost you circa £30k but keep it clean, serviced and under 50k miles and you will get your money back, if not a little more in 2 years time.

3200 are great but they will cost you £3k a year to run.

I think I might start my search with a 4200 and then progress to GSs if I can't find what I want. Although if your asking price was closer to 20 than 30k, and you've got full leather, then I might be tempted...

hi
yep has fully leather with LE Spec and asking mid 20s - its only down side is mileage - late 60k, therefore the lower price range - you could get a GS with tech-cloth non-LE at this cost but not one with fully leather, LE spec and previous supermodel owner :) a few on here have seen the car and know what see looks like and how much work I have done to got her back to my OCD level....

You've defintely given me something to think about there. I'm going to get the cheap high miler mention earlier checked out - if that doesn't work out then I might be in touch! An owner with OCD is someone I want to buy from...

There were a couple of higher mileage GS's that went for 20 to 22k last year both non cat cars. There was a SM members GS went for that kind of money as well if i remember right. Black GS with yellow calipers. I cant remember who's car it was but they do pop up from time to time.

YOu are right there was last year.......If yo find one this year under 20k that's a non cat and good get it as they will be as rare as hens teeth......You are better off getting a face lift 4200 for that money. I think you will need 24k min for a decent GS and then that one will have higher miles and probably not full leather.......but you never know now and again they do pop up.

Some reassuring words there for GS owners. I have been considering a change of mine this year for a GT...or even down sizing to a 4200 classic and a more sensible life style, but who knows where I will end up once the sun returns and the car emerges from winter storage.

Agreed, I was going to say that you are looking at £25k + for anything decent

If a full leather, 31k, one owner car from a dealer is £28k

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifi...tory--1-owner--stunning-condition/4475269?v=b

then I'd expect privately it would be around the £25k. These seem to be quite mileage sensitive so surely something with more than 2x the miles would be worth a bit less? (Obviously dependant on spec etc.)

I think what I'll do is get a 4200 and watch the market for GSs, waiting for a private car with the right spec. And if GSs go any higher, well GT 4.7s are starting around £40k now so could meet GSs on the way down.

Failing that, I'll hang around the forum, claiming that facelift 4200s are basically GSs anyway, while privately checking Autotrader everyday and weeping whenever a new GS comes on the market at a higher price...

Although, everytime I visit this thread now I end up scrolling past Enzo's black beauty and I feel something stirring...

Welcome m1980k

I have ummed and ahhed over selling my GS - too many cars in the garage and all seem to be V8s.

Safe to say we will not see anything like them again from Maserati. So a keeper, as I couldn't face the grief off my four year old son.

If you can stretch to a GS well worth it. I have had the 3200 and 4200 and the GS for me is the classic example of working out the wrinkles. They are a deceptively quick car and handle better than you would believe.

The forum has all the knowledge you will need. Mileage is less of an issue, unless you want a trailer queen that may (read will) go up in value. The cars respond to being used regularly. All the myths about expensive to run will follow for any premium, low volume car (and a fair few high volume premium - I have experience of service costs on my SL500 that more than matches the dealer service from Maserati).

Look at a few and drive them. Be patient - your car is out there.

Good luck

Damo

I jumped strait in for the gs. It's a car I'll always keep. So putting miles on and resale are not a problem to me. The smiles I get on my face while driving it. Well they are priceless it's great fun if you have the funds for the gs then jump in and enjoy. If on the other hand you want a car to go up in value keep saving for a wile buy your self a Ferrari and stick it in a garage.

Lots of wisdom here - this forum is unbelievable! I already know where I'll be sourcing the brakes and F1 pump for a car that I don't own yet... a couple of days ago Maserati was only one of the brands on my short list and now everything else has dropped off (probably related to my dad being a serial Alfa buyer as well..).

This is going to be my first performance car except for a Seat Leon Cupra so think I might start small. Really, I just want something that I can run for a couple of grand a year and get back roughly what I paid for it when it's time to sell. With two young kids (rear seats should come in handy) I want to make sure that a second car is going to get used enough and it's going to be parked on the street in London. If all goes well a Blu Mediterraneo GS with Bordeaux interior will come to the market in a year or two...

Enzos car is stunning to behold and despite what some say prices don't fall off the cliff once you pass 50k - well I hope not :)

That £13k high miler (and by the way, has anyone phoned up about it because the dealer's suddenly had more interest in it...?) now has a holding deposit (so definitely stop calling, you're wasting your time!) and will be getting an independent inspection on Friday morning!

As for the colour combo:

https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=b...sAQIHw&biw=1072&bih=637#imgrc=P_-dcjXlIbG32M:

I think the key is getting the right red and blue. Something like royal blue and crimson wouldn't work, but I more of a navy blue exterior and burgundy interior might be perfect. Black and red certainly works too.

Oh that old line...be quick, lots of interest, it will be gone tomorrow if you don't take it right now at full asking price and no inspection...roll up roll up.

Take your time and only fools rush in...

ps best of luck and I hope it's a peach.

To be fair, when I spoke to him earlier in the week it didn't sound like he'd had as much interest. Who knows. I'll only buy it if the inspection and the price are right. If not, Enzo's gonna give me his GS for £20k, right? ;)
