Going on operations is even called 'a tour'. For all intents and purposes, you are, practically, a tourist.
Except for the weapons, odd beach wear and sometimes having to kill locals.

Ironically, my RAF tour of Germany was spent with the fantastic Army Air Corps at Gutersloh. Happy times.Elmept was never the same after the Tornados left
