Going on operations is even called 'a tour'. For all intents and purposes, you are, practically, a tourist.

They rebranded as BFG, by the time I got there, same scenario, just no threat. So more relaxed!

Ironically, my RAF tour of Germany was spent with the fantastic Army Air Corps at Gutersloh. Happy times.

If they're up against the border it's easy to say they were fired upon , saw something on TV last night showing russian tanks and guns on a train , filmed by the public , the reporters identified the location and direction of travel from landmarks , they were heading towards the border.

UK is moving another armoured battlegroup to Estonia. They were supposed to replace the incumbent battlegroup but are now joining with the extra armour being forwarded overland from the storage facilities in sennelager.
