What a woos, in Scotland we used to leave the dart in.When I was about 6 my best mate's older brother told me stand against the yard wall (no gardens in Bolton then or now) and he'd throw darts around me like a knife-thrower in the circis.
So I did.
First dart stuck in my kneecap, short kecks and all, god that hurt, no blood bit it hurt. when to me mum, she pulled it out, stuck a plaster on me knee and out I went to play again.
